ah ok gotcha... thanks for the info
I've watched way too much First 48 and seen them do these "knock & talks" on that show

I'm very surprised they were trying to talk to a known homicidal maniac. Seems like a recipe for disaster and the worst case scenario was realized.
No blame at all on the officers. I'm sure they were told to do it.

I hear you..I knew what he was going to say before I clicked on his page...
I haven't read much about this shooting...but was the cop white or black?

“Knock and Talk” is just a catch all phrase for attempting to make contact with a suspect without a warrant. In other words, they were trying to see if the guy was in the house. If he was and comes out, they make an arrest. If not there, they move on. If he is there but won’t come out, then you surround and get a warrant (and probably SRT).

The only one I saw on the stretcher was white but based on the Advocate article he was the injured one
Maybe someone else can confirm but the way I read the article it seems like the officer killed remained in the backyard throughout the standoff
The former officer killed trying to stop a burglary was white

The one on the stretcher had sergeant stripes, which would mean the 21 year officer. That’s who was killed. The one who was injured in critical condition is also white.

but it seems like they knew the danger he posed and was setting a perimeter before making contact
seems like they were trying to do the right & safe thing
unfortunately the tPOS got the drop on them

They were trying to set a perimeter. That's why officers went to front of house and several went to back. shite must have happened quick

The first murder that he committed earlier in the morning. I think it was a listed "known address" for him.

I’m glad BRPD and local law enforcement used restraint and didn’t kill the shooter.
I wish Gravy would show restraint when he goes to the Golden Coral buffet.

Ryan Hord, 41, was killed while attempting to fight off a suspected burglar on Richland Avenue late Sunday night.
Article doesn't really explain what killer was breaking into and reads more like police stopping a burglary in process that escalated into a shooting even though also saying Hord was a former police officer.
Was Hord at his home or working security elsewhere?
