Local Mmemphis TV Mets are sort of downplaying snow totals

That just means we'll get 3 feet of snow.

Pretty much, but more in the line of it is just extremely difficult to forecast Winter weather down here. It has gone both ways......bust when it was forecast to boom and boom when it was forecast to bust. Pretty safe to say with this one, though, that where you see the bigger totals (or at least the consistent heavier precip) have been consistently setting up in the models will get something. The harder call is just outside of those areas, on the fringes. That's the type forecast that sucks in the Southeast.

as far as im concerned with winter weather in louisiana, it's either boom or bust

they say there's a small chance you might see something frozen, then you either get a shite ton or none at all

Latest model runs have had showers floating through the area throughout the day today with not much accumulation concern. That's what I was looking at when tiger91 asked about Jackson to Oxford.

I went to Kroger yesterday at like 8:30 am and there wasn’t much activity… and the bread aisle was fully stocked and then before the sunset yesterday.. Oxford police tweeted out a picture of the Kroger bread aisle picked almost clean hahaha

Remember folks......you can just put the keto bread you were forced to buy outside. These freezing temps will keep it nice and fresh, just like the freezer.

I agree but in recent years they've delivered if not even over delivered so I'm all out of kilter about it

We usually get ice, sleet freezing rain. I welcome our snow overlords

Pine Bluff will have record low crime today.

The wife :nopics: is up there right now, thankfully her employer is getting the folks in her office hotel rooms and shuttling them to/from the office. The last estimates I've seen are putting it around 8 inches, but that's over the course of something like 24 hours during which temps are well below freezing.

This makes me think it's going to be a bigger ice event than what's been discussed thus far (as there's some thawing/refreezing that happens since I don't think the ground is cold enough yet to hold that without some initial thawing).

The BR area has been lots of misses on thunderstorm events (although I don't mind the days off ), but not so much on snow/ice events.

What's looking to come through tomorrow evening/night is going to be wet, then transition into freezing rain and sleet, with maybe some snow. A potential icing like that is worse than a snow event as it tends to ice up more quickly and more thickly than just snow. Entergy and Demco baws fixin' to make some truck-nuts levels of overtime pay.

The issue is once you get a little ice it becomes a runaway positive feedback loop, where the temperatures drop and stay colder than expected due to the ice on the ground. But you've got to get the ice first for that to happen.

Baton Rouge won't get any snow. It'll be liquid rain that freezes on contact. Maybe a little sleet mixed in if the cold layer at the surface gets deep enough.

There will be a huge warm layer aloft. The rain will be almost 40 degrees where it forms in the atmosphere.

If this holds up, how will this event compare to the last event? Trees, power outages? High on Tue getting above freezing, so I'm guessing it won't last long enough?
