I'm guessing you drive the cheapest vehicle on the market, and only buy clothes from Walmart?

No, but at some point it seems like you reach a form-function equilibrium.
I'm not paying $300 for a pair of jeans either.

At that price point I'd rather a Tudor Black Bay Black, though.
I got one for Christmas. I love it.

It's all relative. My watches will last a lifetime and like them. There are far worst things to spend your money on. Like a brand new 50k vehicle that will loose the value of a rolex in a year.

True, but I can get more satisfaction and joy from a car than a watch.

Bought mine brand new in 1996 for $3400. It's been serviced, taken very good care of and in perfect condition. I think I'm safe:)
Well if it's stainless steel then then most you are getting for it is $3,400. So yeah, they hold value.

Well thats why you buy cars and not watches
Unfortunately for me, I like both

A Rolex Submariner will be worth more than you paid for it in 20 years if you take decent care of it.
A Rolex purchased between 4-5 grand will not be.
You can buy a vintage Tudor in that price range and it will probably be worth twice that much in that time frame.

Lume is pretty weak, right?
I am setting my sights on a mid-tier watch and the C Ward is up there. But truly, my 007 is so good for the money, I want to know that I am getting my money's worth on a higher end.

Which one?
The black bay is almost perfect, wish it had a date window tho. And no cyclops.

No man in their right mind should.

Sounds like you're intention is to purchase a status symbol instead of a watch.

Look up "tourbillon" THAT is a status symbol.
I have seen nobody throw out a ridiculous watch yet. Patek, JLC, A Langhe & Sohne. one to two zeroes need be added to talk about these.
Everybody has an itch to scratch. Watches for some. Cars were mentioned.
Guitars are another. Unless your name is Eric Clapton, do you NEED a vintage Stratocaster? Nope. And unless you are playing music in public you really don't need any American made Fender or a real Gibson. You WANT one.
I want a Martin D-28. I can't play for shite. For me to buy one would be pure status.
Everybody has an itch.

I like that Black Bay. I just want a Seamaster 300 or a Speedmaster. I can't decide if I want a manual or not on the speedmaster.

Isnt the only Speedy Auto, the reduced version? I don't want a 38mm watch

Broke- Loosely considering a 50th anny Sub, where would you look first? Have been poking around Rolex forums and stopped in a few places in the diamond district here in NYC. Looking like I can get one around 6k w/ papers.
I would start at Rolex forums and go from there. 6k seems mighty low. Peruse every major watch forum you can find and keep looking

How about Doxa? If you are a Clive Cussler fan, you can't go wrong.
Either of those two, you will rarely,
if never, see anyone with the same watch as you.
Great watch. I love Doxa.

You can get a 42mm speedy. Absolutely.

They come in 42mm also. I'm pretty confident in that.
