Seems to be a lot of people in their twenties and thirties who don't know jack shite about life yet.

Alex Honnold's girlfriend Sanni McCandless is a "life coach." Would you hire her for "coaching" sessions?

She's 26 years old. WTF does she know about life? One thing young people can't understand is just how many years it takes to acquire some true wisdom.

Sanni almost single-handedly destroyed Alex's dream. As the Free Solo film well-documented, Alex got two serious injuries after getting together with Sanni. As Alex says in the film, he hadn't had an injury in seven years, and suddenly he had two bad injuries in a short time, while training to do the hardest climb of his life. And she was trying to train him emotionally at the wrong fricking time. Her interference with his life and training actually made the climb more dramatic, because you wonder if she wussified him too much (even though we already knew the end result). In other words, this film was a terrible indictment of her skills as a "life coach."

(She does deserve some credit though. The best thing she did in the film was drive back home a couple of days before he did the climb).

I don't fault them. They found a huste that peoplr are willing to pay for their services. Personally, i don't see the point really. But some people eat that shite up. Everybody gotta make a living somehow

The beauty of it is that they're marketing themselves to poor decision makers.

if you are so inept you need a life coach, it’s probably for the best that there are life coaches out there

Seemed like an early 00s quasi-trend that never really took off.

Exactly.

Only people who are horrendous decision-makers would think it a good idea to hire someone who hasn't yet fully navigated their twenties to be a life coach.

My thought as well.

I remember Seinfeld had an episode late in the series where Jerry dated a girl who had a life coach and he scoffed at the notion.

I usually just make fun of the people that hire them

Why? Seems like a prudent thing to do if the person they are paying is legit, and can actually offer ways for them to improve their life. Parents spend thousands of dollars on coaches to help little Johnny improve his ability to hit or kick a ball with little chance on getting a return on the investment. Spending some money to possibly function at a higher level in your career, or life in general just seems like common sense.
