you coulda tied me to a post like an African slave and beat me and I wasn’t sitting in school. My parents prob had overuse injuries prior to realizing it had no benefit. Science did actually work.
Sadly, a lot of people wear trauma like some kind of badge of honor. There's a lot of adults that are permanently fricked up because they were beat as kids. There's so many people that can't make eye contact or talk to strangers because they were abused physically, emotionally, or both.
Now, I'm not saying that you shouldn't discipline your kids. I am 100% on board with boundaries and lessons about respect, kindness, sharing, fairness, work ethic, etc. It's important for kids to be kept in line. That said, way too many people go straight to screaming and hitting their kids. (Probably because that's how they were treated.)

Looking for any advice guys.

Step 1,, get her off of this shite. Control/cure her ADHD through diet.
I'd be willing to bet the anxiety lessens or corrects itself from there. ADHD medicine is the "easy route" but it is one of the single worst things you can give a kid.
I agree. While drugs help a kid focus, it also dulls their intelligence.
The Nazis did extensive studies on stimulants, sleep deprivation, acuity, etc. The overall was that it was great for making better soldiers, but terrible for making better academics. (Drugs like amphetamines, nicotine, caffeine, etc.)

This was in the mid 70s and on The fact that they found me the help I needed is a testament to their love. No internet back then to research. As a parent myself I can’t imagine how they managed it as well as they did.

I think it's great that you maintained your perspective and were able to break that cycle. However, there are a lot of people that don't. Even if they don't mean it, they end up using negative reinforcement because it's all they understand.

You two are both saying beat, but are describing two different things.
Beating a kid is never ok. Controlled discipline using spanking as one of many tools, IMO, is ok.

Yeah - I made my comment in jest
I’ve heard people say they are traumatized from being spanked as a kid and won’t spank their kids. Their kids are sometimes little shits, and need to be spanked - just like their parents needed it.
Adults who were not spanked are the worst people to work with because they have no idea about consequences.
Beating a child is not ok, and maybe I should’ve clarified or used the sarcasm font.

For my family it is. It provides answers and reassurances. It provides strength. World is crazy - either drugs, alcohol, sex, or spiritual to cope - your choice. What do you suggest?

Anxiety my arse. Kids these days are soft and need tough love! So glad my kids are grown. I hate the word anxiety. Hey, I have an idea. Go get a prescription for your kids anxiety. Everyone's doing it! Nevermind......you already have her on legal meth. Which I would think is the worse for treating so called....anxiety.
I feel the same way about high blood pressure. Just calm down, amirite?

Not all kids are made for school. Small private schools or home school co ops.

That's why it is important to get kids in sports and programs that builds friends, confidence, etc. Just give her, her iPad like you probably did when she was a toddler. That should calm her down. She could also become a furry Jk, Godspeed. Get counseling for her.
That.
And kids learn what they have to say or do to get their way. They’re manipulative little shits sometimes. That and be careful with that meth. I hear it smells great but has some nasty side effects.

AZBadger: Your friends have crippled their daughter as much as if they cut off her legs. Sounds they have hamstrung themselves, too, in the process.
When you slay all your kids dragons, they never learn to slay their own. When my husband taught at LSU I was amazed at parents calling him on behalf of their kids.

I'd try to get her to a therapist if at all possible. And one that won't prescribe meds at the drop of a hat, but only as a last resort. Let her work through her anxiety with the help of her therapist and find out what triggers it. That's also a big deal in helping to curb anxiety.
Best of luck to you and your daughter.

My oldest son was very shy and anxious around people when he was really young. We put him in wrestling when he was 5 and it was the best thing we ever did for him. He's 10 now and has no issues with confidence.
