I love when people go to bat about medical industry professionals will be needed to double check the work of AI. Medical professionals get diagnosis wrong all the time. It's not like are ultimate authorities. One doctor told my dad he had 30 days to live. The next doctor said a pretty routine outpatient surgery is all it takes and he's been cancer free over 15 years now. That's one of several examples of doctors totally screwing up on people I know.

Sounds like something an AI bot with 79 posts would say
I agree, let's have him select all pictures that have a car in them.

a neural network capable of “remembering” information from its training without actually storing the training data is considerably different from a search engine
I’m decently familiar with NLP. These networks are 100% storing information somewhere.

Globally, medical mistakes are like the 3rd or 4th leading cause of death every year.

I mean yeah, the information has to exist in some form within the weights themselves. But when you look at the size of the models compared to the size of the training datasets it becomes clear that they’re not actually storing the training data. They’re storing whatever they learn from the training data.
Your brain does the same thing and it’s not simply searching a database. In people, we tend to just call it “knowledge.”

I think that people who say AI will take over every job don’t understand how artificial intelligence actually works. For sure there is a place for it, but if your job can be taken over by AI then it’s likely because you are doing useless paperwork. AI is just a stats program, and input into it must be done by somebody. Jobs creating/editing AI software will become more common, and that will replace the “jobs” that AI is taking over.
yea, not exactly how this works and if you are not intelligent enough to understand this you should be concerned

I admittedly don't know Jack shite about AI, but the fact that Elon Musk and Geoffrey Hinton consider this technolgy to be an existential threat to humanity is cause for concern.
Seems like loss of jobs may be the least of our worries.

Technological shifts usually take way longer than people estimate. If they say 10 years it will be 30.
This is true in hardware but software requires no supply chain. AI chips and energy are the 3 hardware factors that will determine the promulgattion of AI. Other technologies required a lot of trial and error on the path to availability.

Seriously, MIT top scientists and people say it’s 50/50. You probably don’t really understand what’s going on. I didn’t pay much attention to this shite either but after watching a why files episode on it where they post some of actual messages and shite the AI programs have already done, pretty sure we are fricked. I am hoping the others save our arse. All the tech billionaires from Musk to Bezos are in a race to see who can kill us all first. It’s a big dick contest in which we lose
Why files on AI
Why files on AI

Funny you say this because at the same time Elon is working on an AI that’s most likely to kill us all. Lol.
Microsoft version and ths Facebook AI are the other big contenders.
Like the tech lady that wrote burn book said on Bill Maher Friday night’ “A-I could save us all or kill us all”

Great X thread on AI in healthcare. Healthcare is desperate for innovation and cost reduction. America literally cannot afford the status quo or we will go bankrupt.
