Lots of people who think owners are irresponsible and somehow cruel if their dogs are left out in the rain for instance. How many houses have dogs had in the millennia of their evolution? They’re animals, they belong outside. Leaving them out in the rain is no more cruel than not sheltering any other animal

My yellow lab is a rescue from the 2016 flood. When I adopted him he was extremely malnourished because he got left behind. Anytime it rains he freaks out because he's traumatized from being left for dead in a flood. You don't think it would be cruel to leave him out on the back porch during a thunderstorm?

As others have pointed out, you're talking about wild animals vs decades of domesticating these animals.

Regarding a subject that has nothing to do with the weird flex in the OP, does anyone here have a German Shepherd?

My neighbor has German Shepherd (that may be a mix) and is rather large (>80lbs). It frequently crosses the property line and defecates in the middle of my road. The size of his feces are comparable to what you would expect from a large man with poor dietary habits. I am both disturbed and somewhat impressed. Is this giant shite producer an anomaly?

I love my dogs, but they are still animals and yes I treat them as dogs. They are inside/outside dogs. I live in the sticks and own a lot of land that I let my dogs do their hunting. So no problem having them. My old dog stays at my side, more so when I black out walking which happens to often. Now teaching the new pup I have to do the same.

Most radical dog owners (there is a lot of these) are compensating for something missing in their lives. One of my neighbors is like this and it is super annoying.

Rarely is there almost virtual agreement in this place.

Congratulations you fricking Oompa Loompa psycho. Your hatred of animals has won you an award.

My Sheltie has such a well-designed double coat of fur that he can stand outside in the pouring rain and only his feet and the tip of his muzzle will actually get wet. All the other moisture just slides right off.

The flip side of this is that he hates going swimming because he doesn't like his fur actually getting soaked.

I agree. They are weird and the worse are the people who put an animal’s life over a human’s life.

After being upset when my dog died I just had to realize it was just a dog and being upset for a little bit is normal but get over it.

I’d save a dogs life over the OP given the choice.

Dogs have amazing memories about that stuff. The 10 year old Border Collie we rescued (1st 3 years of life chained to a barrel, then outside at a farm neglected) likes riding in cars but when it is time to load up, he bashes his way in. He doesn't want to be left behind.

If you hate dogs, you might as well get off those pages/app. The only thing they talk about are lost dogs.

The facebook page for my neighborhood though had a crossing guard take videos of cars going to fast through the school zone and ever time a million people commented on how some kid will get killed.

I go through that section every day and the crossing guard stands 20 ft away from the street with no stop sign. I comment that one time and said that maybe people dont know its a school zone bc the crossing guard is so far back the people have no idea they are even in a school zone. They didnt like that too much. But the next day that lady was in a chair in the grass two feet away from the street and she never posted a video again.

Having a dog is like having a child that's permanently locked in at the 2-5yr old mindset (depending on the dog), that means they are a responsibility. People should not get a dog unless they are going to care for (including paying attention to and training) their dog(s).
