And was promptly dissected.

City Hall (built in 1909, demo’ed in the 1960s)
did they replace it with some box?

Speaking of souless architecture- Dallas, TX (that joins Boston, MA in having City Halls with shitty brutalist architecture) seems to be reconciled to tearing their’s down and replacing it with an Arena or something less aesthetically reprehensible.
Moral: You CAN fight an ugly City Hall

Oyster shuckers in South Louisiana ca. unknown. A guess would be probably in the 1920s. If pictures could emit a smell, what an odor that would be.

Man I badly wanted a set of clackers when I was a kid but my parents flatly refused.
The word on the street was if you left them in the window in the sun they would burn your house down.
I played with my friends' whenever they would let me.
What in the hell was so mesmerizing about those things?

A cursory search of the Internet makes me suspect this photo is from 1911 and is the work of Lewis Wickes Hine.
And the location may be on Pearl River Island out by the Rigolets. But I’m less sure of that.
