Did your grandfather do anything with Falstaff Beer?
Could be. Back then my grandfather had a grocery store in Beaumont so it may have been some kind of promotion or meet and greet. By the time I came around my grandfather was working for Southwestern Bell. I wish he was still around to ask.

Dean was a Falstaff spokesman back in the day. My grandfather and dad had a Falstaff distributorship
By 1990 it was essentially out of business

I drank the Chocolate Solders every week. Chocolate flavored water...but they were good.

That was the GOAT though…
There was something oddly satisfying about prying the lid off with a spoon.

My grandfather with Dizzy at a local bar in Beaumont, TX, in 1955. No idea why Dizzy was in Beaumont, but my grandfather always spoke fondly of him.
I may have found an answer:

Give him a break. He didn't say he drank Schaefer!

It was the #1 beer in the Southeast region of the US...
It's a shame, the guy who bought out Falstaff, basically destroyed it as a business...
Side Note: did you know those letters on the Falstaff sign were 10 feet tall?
They also have a statue of King Gambrinus above the main entrance..
