An actual working officer for BRPD has to be the worst job in Baton Rouge.

Our 'fearless' govt. leaders, commission DOZENS of 'expert' panels,research/focus groups as well as 'professional'boards, to study all the underlying causes/effects to virtually every 'malady' which befalls society ! WHERE are the ANSWERS as to what causes all this crime/mayhem ? I mean the actual ROOT causes AND an 'action plan'/path forward ? ANYTHING BUT....the old tried/failed approach of 'give-away-programs'...which have been PROVEN, to NOT accomplish ANYTHING ! WHY are we not able to identify/address/SOLVE some of our most difficult problems ? WHO is holding society back ???

Lol, Broome just hired an expert to consult her on picking up trash. I kid you not. Every chance they get to hire someone who will kick back to their campaign they will do it.

I’m not a avowed liberal my any means, but I think things like your example are good things. They are providing a path for people that want to be able to get out the ghetto life. A place to provide structure for your children and a way to get to work. That IS addressing the crime problem.

around 10 years ago BRPD used to take fingerprints- now they just take the report over the phone.

We got burglarized about 15 years ago. Called the cops. It took 2.5 hours for them to show up. We asked about fingerprints. Hell there was a boot print on the back door. They couldn't care less. When they took the boot print from the door using tape, they left the toe and heel off. I shite you not. And when we insisted on fingerprints, we had to wait for them to get their one fingerprint kit to our house. Another officer had THE kit and it took another 90 minutes to get there.
Let that sink in. One fingerprint kit in the whole city of Baton Rouge.

Call me cynical, but let's see what those "investments" in the Plank Rd. area look like in 5-7 years.

I 100% agree that it’ll be filthy and stripped of anything worth $1. Maybe I wasn’t clear in my comment above, I think that it’s a factor is addressing the crime problem. There has to be some opportunity for those born deep in those neighborhoods to get out and break the cycle.

I don’t know, I guess that’s root source of most political arguments. I’ll step out the conversation here.

Finger prints when out of style in the 1990’s. It’s contact DNA now and a burglary under a couple thousand dollars is not cost effective. The penalty for conviction doesn’t cover the cost of working the case.

They did the same thing to a girl I know. A single woman living alone. She sat in the hallway with a pistol watching the front door

I had a similar instance where I reported an active break in while living right off campus. Dispatcher told me response time was 90 minutes.

I said that if they cupprit returned, I would shoot him and hang him from the light pole at Nicholson and Ben Hur, and that I was not kidding.

I had an officer in front my place in 10 minutes.

I have a stupid question.

Are most of the murderers shooting their victims over drug stuff or territory? Or are there enough domestic incidents to split the two in half? Or are people murdering one another for sport?

Also, Is this the second generation of the Katrina issues when NOLA gangsters and BR thugs clashed?

Racist street names. We get those changed, and most of BR’s problems will disappear

Most has to do with drugs/money owed. Territorial killings aren’t as prevalent in BR
