I like Kanye's music better than Prince's music. I don't get Prince and think that people like him more to seem "cool" than out of genuine like. He wanted to be Bowie but Bowie was better. Just my opinion, no troll. I get he was talented.

if anything, Kanye is the one that gets the genius label although there's nothing special at all about his music.

Watch the video posted earlier of him alongside petty and winwood or his SB halftime show and tell me a hack like Kanye is a more talented musician.

eta: sorry for responding to you cap, I'd hate for people to think you were the author of such a stupid comment.

same here. i remember thinking "prince plays guitar??" Come to find out, he's not only an incredible guitarist, but plays lots of other instruments and wrote tons of hit songs for other artists. he was a musician in every sense of the word.

Most don't know this...

But on just about every album he recorded, he played every instrument for every song in the studio. His bands were there for live performances only.

Yes, you read that right.

You are also correct about songs he wrote for other artists. There are dozens of #1 hits that he wrote. Some sound like Prince songs, others don't.

He was literally a once-in-a-lifetime talent.

Last week all of the blind gossip sites were saying a very popular African-American celeb who is known for his extreme sexual past has had HIV since the 90s stopped taking his meds 2 years ago because crazy religious people told him he was cured and he has now become so sick doctors had told him that he wouldn't make it until the summer and there was nothing anyone could do about it.

Those sites are almost always right and my guess it was Prince since ALL signs point to him. He had an extremely sexual past, he is SUPER religious and is a Jehovahs Witness and they have crazy religious beliefs, Prince has been sick with the "flu" for awhile and of course he did just die.

Just a few months ago, I heard the Sirius Town Hall segment with Chris Cornell. He mentioned being a huge Prince fan and played an acoustic version of 'Nothing Compares to You'. He added that Prince didn't like how most people think that Sinead O'Conner wrote that song.

As if I needed any more reason to <3 Chris Cornell

As a kid, had his first vinyl album. I Wanna Be Your Lover is probably my favorite song of all time, and IMO very underrated. At the time, it was a different, funky sound.

Prince also started the careers of Morris Day & the Time, Sheila E and a shitload of others as well as having written hit songs like "Nothing Compares 2 U" for Sinead O'Conner and "Manic Monday" for the bangles. Hell, he even had his own sound (the "Minneapolis" sound).

He was a consummate musician on a level few others could ever hope to match.
