We did but he's more concerned with the university's image, prestige, and growth which seems to still be too much in a gray area for him. LSU just experienced a decline in applications again this past year he told me which I can't lie isn't a good sign .... I mean the kids is very bright and is doing his research
This has absolutely nothing to do with the OP
If you want to bash the university, and you have multiple justified reasons to do so, then just come out and say
This thread is taking passive aggression to another level

Knowing what I know now I’d a probably sucked a dick to go to an Ivy League over LSU....no matter the cost of the school

Sounds like the little snowflake would be better off at a UT-Austin or other like pussyfied schools. If being bullied at an “elitist and affluent” school and he can’t take that, he shouldn’t end up at LSU. You’ve already proved he couldn’t make it in Baton Rouge.

I mean, the research must not mean much if he's still leaning towards LSU.

Well.....the schools he is now considering are much, much better. I love LSU, but I’d send me kid to anyone of those schools over my alma mater in a heartbeat.

Tell the young man to grow a pair and decide for himself where he wants to go. After HS, he won’t see 90% of those kids again anyway.

I live in Texas and my nephew was heavily considering LSU until recently. He attends a very elitist and affluent private school where most students matriculate to highly ranked and wealthy private and public colleges. So he's been ridiculed for choosing LSU especially given he's one of the top students in his class. LSU isn't really highly ranked or respected in academia and is actually having financial issues due to Louisiana's Republican controlled state government obsession with cutting funding for public universities in the state.
You’re too obtuse to research this so allow me to do this for you.
In 1971, Edwin Edwards calls a Constitutional Convention. He’s tired of defending his budgets from cuts at the hands of Republicans. So he has Camille Gravel, his legendary political consigliere, to lead the Conventions rewriting of said Constitution.
This rewrite gave Constitutional protection to every state Agency’s budget. It could be expanded without issue. But it could not-EVER-be cut Constitutionally.
No Agency that is, other than the ones governing Higher Education and Healthcare. Which basically means if anyone-of any Political persuasion or party-want some to cut our budget, they can only cut Higher Ed and Healthcare.
Edwards was brilliant in his construction as he knew Democrats would never willingly cut Government and Republicans would be painted as heartless, mindless idiots.
Please do some damned research before you blame our budgetary constraints and issues on the wrong party. EWE and the LA Demo Party are the problem. NOT Republicans.
Dumbass.

If he's really truly excited about going to LSU, then he should. I can't imagine being that happy about something, but being talked out of it by an ignorant high school kid. His schoolmates' opinions won't count for shite in about six months.

I have heard about LSU being ranked poorly from an academic standpoint all of my life. I think that is only significant if you want to be a researcher or professor. After graduating from LSU, I would put my earning ability against pretty much any other degree from any school. The only value in a degree is in the earning potential that it provides....

undergrad does not mean much.
grad school is where the decision is very important.

Smart kids come a dime a dozen. Can he kick a fricking football?
And if the kids he is going to HS with now will not being going to LSU why does he give a frick what they think? He should go wherever it is in his best interest to go.
