No trouble with mine. Maybe you just need to hire an expert to show you how to drive.

It returns to V8 mode seamlessly. I don't even notice it unless I see the DIC indicate what mode it is in.

Talk shite about Silverado all you want, we were driving back from Tahoe Monday with about 6 inches of fresh snow down and highway in bad shape still and my Silverado cut right through with no issues, saw some fords and dodges on the side of the road having slipped out tho. I know a lot of it has to do with your tires and driving as well, but the ole baw still impressed me

I've got 10k miles on mine and it doesn't do that.

There was a recall on the software for the transmission. Did you get yours updated?

'17 Sierra with the 5.3

Sometimes I can kind of feel the change from 8 to 4, but it's only in the neighborhood when I've been driving around 25 for a couple hundred feet. Usually I don't notice. Honestly, it might be mental and only notice it when I have the screen up that tells me V4 or V8. Completely unnoticeable on the highway. Engine has always been as responsive as I've needed it to be.

Traded an 08 Silverado with a 5.3 and damn near 100k miles on it for this Sierra. That Silverado was the most reliable trouble free vehicle I ever did own.

The 5.3l AFM is terrible. You can feel everytime it kicks between 4 and 8 cylinders. The change isn't as noticeable on highways at speed but around town its constantly changing. There's also delays from V4 mode back to V8 mode.

Have not experienced either of these issues at all. The transition is smooth and is honestly not noticeable.

I've driven one for the past 3 years, and wouldn't know it changed unless I had the dash fuel economy system up...

I had V4 mode programmed out on mine. But then I traded it in on a Duramax and feel like this bitch could climb a mountain.

I have that same engine in my Tahoe and experienced non of those issues.
You’d better learnt to like it if you want v8’s. Soon or later we’ll have 4 cylinders thanks to envirofruits.

I think you are full of it. My wife’s Tahoe has this feature and none of what you explained has ever happened.
