Explain to a white collar, non-plant working baw what a jib is for a crane, please....
It's the extra length added to the end of the boom.

New Orleans red beans and rice sucks aside from fricking Popeyes.
New Orleans gumbo fricking sucks too. Okra and tomatoes and tiny shrimp.
No spice and catered to snowflakes.
This city used to have culture. And I live here (Jefferson parish)

Typically if you're only doing one pick, it's analyzed beforehand and then added to the boom before the lift.
These guys raised the boom all the way up, lower it, then figure out they need the jib.

Yes. All it would have took was a simple executive order protecting all current military monuments.
He's got enough problems of his own, he wasn't touching this shitshow with a 10 foot pole.

Mitch thinks he is finishing the "battle" that his family never resolved in his eyes.
I wouldn't be surprised if he envisioned nothing but Landrieu monuments all across NOLA

Got to get rid of the competition if you want to be King of New Orleans!

As news of the Liberty Place Commission's ceremonial annual dinners began to fade from the Times Picayune, the monument continued to make the news occasionally as it became a site of protest.
In 1970, the Times-Picayune noted that the monument "carried a defacing smudge of black pitch or paint on it." After numerous protests by black political activists in the early 1970's, Mayor Moon Landrieu's administration attempted to solve the problem by placing an explanatory plaque next to the historical marker which read, "Although the 'Battle of Liberty Place' and this monument are important parts of New Orleans history, the sentiments in favor of white supremacy expressed thereon are contrary to the philosophy and beliefs of present-day New Orleans."
This gesture satisfied almost no one. In 1976, the NAACP Youth Council requested the monument's removal, while some decried the plaque as "historical revisionism."
In 1981, the monument nearly left public view at Mayor Ernest "Dutch" Morial's order, sparking a new round of public discussion and protest.
The monument left public view in 1989, reportedly for safe keeping, amidst construction on Canal Street. Mayor Sidney Barthelemy pledged to return the marker, though his administration missed the originally stated date for its replacement.
To the chagrin of many residents, the city obliged but moved the obelisk off of Canal Street to its present site in the curve of Iberville Street, between railroad tracks and the entrance to a parking garage. In addition to planting the marker in a less obtrusive location, the city removed the plaque championing white supremacy and affixed a new plaque commemorating the Metropolitan Police casualties, several of whom were African-American.
Since no museums have offered to house the memorial, it remains in its secluded spot and has fallen out of the public discourse in recent years. Vandals have removed four small pillars in the midsection of the monument, and graffiti is often found on its plaques.

New Orleans leads in tourism but isn't inclusive.
Makes sense.
This is the thing that pisses me off the most. My mom is a 4th generation New Orleanian and my dad 5th generation Mobilian. Two cities and ports integral to the Civil War, Slave Trade, etc. At no time in my 30+ years have I ever witnessed them treat a black person without the same respect and dignity that they would a white person. They instilled a moral belief in me that I was to treat everyone I encountered politely, respectfully, and equally.
This idea that white people in a racially diverse city are just walking around waiting to treat a black person unfairly is lunacy.
