Also the northern hypocrites that thought slavery was wrong had no problem insisting that slaves count as 3/5 of a person to frick the south on representation

Robert E Lee didn't even want freed slaves to vote.

The original issue was the westward expansion of the country, and whether slavery would be allowed in those territories.
Then, I believe it was John C. Calhoun? who came up with some idea of the states not having to abide by things that they disagreed with. Things like taxes, etc.
I forget why SC seceded exactly, but not everything was about slavery.

Because he feared politicians would take advantage of their ignorance and solidify them as a voting bloc for their own personal gain. Kind of like Democrats do today.

The mayor claims no taxpayer money is being used to remove the monuments. He says a private donor is giving the city the money, presumably a match for the $600k public bid that was received. The mayor will not disclose the private individual who is issuing these funds. It could be Kim Jong Un for all we know.
But we know for a fact that NOFD employees are actually out there doing the work. So if they are getting paid by the city, which almost has to be the case as a matter of law, then the mayor is lying.

Such a noble man. He also said slavery was worse for white people than the actual enslaved blacks. Seriously. He felt blacks should be grateful that they were enslaved.
