must have been a big damn bolt to hold down 4 tons. Was that grade 8 or grade 5. What was the torque value, and how much PB Blaster did you have to use.
It's NOT four tons this is almost 8 tons

For some reason I thought he had the option to fight for the winning side before he turned his back on them and sided with Virginia.
Damn right.

I feel terrible for all of the workers down there who took off of work today. What a waste of a vacation day.
Can you and SuperSaint go conduct interviews?
First question - where do you live now?
Second question - where were you born?
Third question - where do you work?
Fourth question - OK, now tell me how you feel?

Tell me he wasn't on the ban bus because I like his enthusiasm.

He didn't take up arms against the US.
He was chosen by the confederacy to defend them when Lincoln attacked it.
Learn history.
The crazy ironic part about this, is the union begged him to be their general; but he refused to fight against Virginia.

Hammertime said it was Savarino last night, and that they were "white trash." He then drank all night and posted some ugly remarks and threats to two other posters earlier this morning. His comments were deleted. He'll probably wake up sometime this afternoon to find out he's been banned, so I'm not sure he'll be able to provide you with any additional information.

Thought I saw it quoted that it was 8K pounds, either way you ain't breaking a bolt loose that has been up there in the elements since 1953 with a knocker wrench and a 20 lb sledge hammer unless they cut it off, and they damn sure didn't use a high torque

You know what's interesting?
People in the South, from general's at the time to Southerns today, view the war as unnecessary. It was governmental overreach at its highest peak. It was a tragic event that pitted brother against brother. It was a massive blood shed to maintain the southern States which just wanted to be left alone and govern themselves.
It was a nasty brutal war fought on our own soil.
Imagine how torn Lee was. He was asked to lead the troops for the United States, a great honor, but he was asked to lead them against his family and his friends and his home and his state. At the end he couldn't bring himself to attack his own home.
He must've been torn apart. As many Southern Generals were
They didn't start the war. They didn't want it.
Then after the war during reconstruction, the North continued its iron fist tactics suspending habeas corpus and dictating how the southern States were required to be governed.
The entire event is a tragic case study in how not to handle the situation in every aspect.
In large part today states are still fighting against governmental overreach for a number of reasons.
In contrast, Northerners view it has a heroic victory, with no respect or care for the casualties and the actual history behind the events
They scoff at confederate memorials and anyone who dares try to remember the actual events. They tell the entire South to shut the frick up and accept whatever they say. Which is exactly what the war was fought over.
