If I remember correctly they don’t even eat much of the Great Whites they kill. Instead they eat just the liver and leave the rest.

Now, if I remember correctly that’s a pair of male orca around South Africa just f’ing up great whites.

They're named Port and Starboard because they both have fin collapse and their dorsal fins point opposite directions.

They hunt together and Great Whites are always on their menu. Well, specifically the shark's livers. Everything else is left.

Wasn’t in San Francisco Bay where some years ago a boatload of tourists filmed a mother orca killing a Great White by basically biting it almost in half then letting her calf come up and feast on its carcass? Seems like it was that video and some commentary on it where I found out orcas really like great white livers.

its all "aww what a beautiful graceful animal" right up until they snap you in half with one bite.

they arent known to attack people, they prefer fish and seals, but they do eat any sort of meat they can get, and people are in that meat category

First I’m hearing of that. But orcas are nothing to be f’d with. Saw a documentary where they’re pounded humpback whales just to teach the calfs.

For the most part we just play in their territory.

You sure about that?

There are no documented reports of wild, free-living orcas ever having intentionally attacked humans.

That’s from January 2023

The only attacks documented were all from captive orcas.

quote:

Sadly, according to Rob Lott of the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society, the same cannot be said for orcas kept in captivity, in which aggression towards trainers is common. “No one is sure what causes the animals to react in this way, but boredom, frustration and ill health, both physical and mental, have all been implicated,” says Rob. “These incidents have resulted in serious injuries to trainers and, in one case at least, proved to be fatal.”

Trick photography. Nice try. Busted. Watch when the fishing rod swipes from right to left and disappears in the transition… Zooming in at the same time. That’s a sucker video if I ever saw one…

Spent some time watching sea lions in the water near Santa Barbara. They are like super torpedos so fast and agile in the water you wouldnt believe it until you see it. Then i was shown a video of an orca attack from a workers phone. The sealion was doing his maneuvers and one of the orcas caught him with his tail and tossed him 40 feet out of the water then ate him as he hit the water and shot bloody water from his blowhole moments later. They are some bad asses. Its amazing there are literally hundreds of those sealions every where out there, when you consider how good Orcas are at hunting them.

The ones we don’t put in cages don’t hurt humans.
