Yea, yea, yea, I get it. FBI is probably advising against it, but frick it. That's my mom.

What incentive would the perps have to release your mom after they’ve been paid? Their word is their bond? They’re honorable? You’d be an idiot to just blindly pay it. You’d be out a million dollars and your mom. The family still has leverage BEFORE the payment to mine some information. AFTER? They’ll never hear from the perps again. Unless it’s to extort another million and still not release their mom.

Let this be a lesson that cameras that don’t store video somewhere remote may be useless in certain situations.

Wasn't the FBI somehow able to clawback ransom paid in BTC during that colonial pipeline ransomware case?

Orrrrr........you might have a dead mom on your hands b/c you were reluctant to pay. It's psychologically breaking for them by design and there really are no right answers.

I thought that was the point.

Yeah, 1 million seems like they asked a number so low the family likely pay it. With no intention of ever returning the mom.

"The whole world now knows my son, Sean Mullen, was kidnapped for ransom three days ago. This is a recent photograph of him. Sean, if you're watching, we love you. And this [2 million dollars in cash], well this is what waits for the man that took him. This is your ransom. Two million dollars in unmarked bills, just like you wanted.

But this is as close as you'll ever get to it. You'll never see one dollar of this money, because no ransom will ever be paid for my son. Not one dime. Not one penny.

Instead, I'm offering this money as a reward on your head. Dead or alive, it doesn't matter. So, congratulations. You've just become a two million dollar lottery ticket, except the odds are much, much better. Do you know anyone that wouldn't turn you in for two million dollars? I don't think you do. I doubt it. So, wherever you go and whatever you do, this money will be tracking you down for all time.

And to insure that it does, to keep interest alive, I'm running a full-page add in every major newspaper, every Sunday for as long as it takes. But -- and this is your last chance -- you return my son, alive, uninjured, I'll withdraw the bounty. With any luck, you can simply disappear. Understand? You will never see this money. Not one dollar.

So, you still have a chance to do the right thing. If you don't, well, then, God be with you, because nobody else on this earth will be."

This story displays so much inside knowledge to the property, pacemaker, cameras, etc. It has to be an inside job.
At the moment I'm thinking Thomaso is the target. Why haven't we learned more of him? Did he or did he and Annie drop Nancy off Saturday evening?
The border is very close!

I just saw that the FBI is offering a $50k reward. If you are someone in need of $50k, would kidnapping someone be the best and quickest way to get it?

pacemaker

Inside knowledge?

The pacemaker didn't get turned off, it stopped connecting to the phone bc they left the phone at the house. Would have been idiotic to take it and be tracked.

BREAKING: A Los Angeles man named Derrick Callella has been arrested by the FBI for allegedly sending texts to the Guthrie family to ask for bitcoin and see if they would respond. His text messages are *not* believed to be connected to the ransom demand.

How they caught him & DOJ criminal complaint below ????

(Feds say he tried to use a VOIP app which they were able to quickly get around via an emergency disclosure request to their mobile carrier, then they found his IP address and linked it to his California address).

It would be interesting if the restaurant they ate dinner at just hours before might have had cameras in the dining spaces? Perhaps to study body language over that dinner conversation. Were they laughing? Yelling?

I think the Sheriff said she used an uber to go to their house, eat dinner and they played a board game until they took her home just before 10 PM.

I don't remember if they caught the people behind the Colonial Pipeline ransomeware attack a few years ago, but they did somehow manage to claw back most of the Bitcoin they were paid. Don't remember how and honestly makes Bitcoin even more sketchy if that's possible.

Someone in the family did... when pressed, the sheriff wouldn't say who did. Very weird he didn't come out and say who.

They said in the presser today it was an uber that brought her home.

I assume the 5 pm today deadline is mountain time?

And supposedly there is another deadline later. I assume that means they will harm her at 5 today and kill her on the next deadline. It was Sunday I think?

Yeah, its today and Monday... doesn't make much sense to give 2 different deadlines unless its pay 1m by 5pm today and if not, its 2m by Monday and after that, she's done.

But again, these kidnappers aren't the brightest. They sent demand letters without any line of comm set up.
