Googling “thyroid cancer” isn’t that easy

Yours mentions papillary thyroid cancer which is the most common and is’ frequently cured with surgery and occasionally radiation/chemo for advanced cases.

But that’s not the only kind of thyroid cancer. Does he have Follicular? What about medullary thyroid?

Or does he have Anaplastic Thyroid Carcinoma which usually presents as a sudden rapid growth mass and is universally fatal.

Cancer is not something you easily understand with a google search unfortunately

I said this on the movie/TV board, but if it's thyroid cancer it's usually really treatable. Maybe he can knock it out with treatment.

Any type of Stage 4 cancer is essentially a death sentence.

Not necessarily. Good buddy of mine was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer a while back. He's now cancer free for 10+ years.

One form of thyroid cancer, anaplastic carcinoma, is one of the deadliest forms of cancer out there. My dad died from it. He managed to survive four years, but there is a 95 percent death rate within 6 months of diagnosis. I am not sure what type he has, but if it is anaplastic carcinoma, his prognosis is bad. Unfortunately, it is usually not caught until it is too late.

Whew. Thanks for the info. Wonder why the doctors didn’t just Google it before labelling it Stage 4
