Sounds like you already have that pretentious Charleston smugness down. Charleston (really the entire coast) is not the south. It's a rich person's playground that was lost years ago.

Follow chucktownmemes on instagram if you’re on it. Lot of good shots taken at all the transplants and stereotypes of the city.

I can see this for sure living here. Still a lot of cool people around though and anything beats the smugness of DC. There’s definitely a contingent here though that believe they’re in some “southern” version of Miami and try to keep up with the Joneses of Southern Charm, etc. Mt. Pleasant is basically a giant Whole Foods. And yes I plan on moving there when I eventually move out of downtown.

Are you going to be hitting the bar scene with Shep and Austin?

Mt Pleasant is where I'd live also. No shame in that, even if it is a giant Whole Foods

I know I sound like grumpy old man yells at clouds, but its sad to see a city like Charleston be completely inaccessible as a home to most native SCers who'd want to move there.

I’d say 80% of the cars in my parking garage are from CT, NY, and MA. Hoping the return to work slows that migration down. Met enough of those folks in DC. Bunch of rich NE folks moving down here in droves. They are older at least.

One thing I liked the most about visiting Charleston is that there were 25 year old folks and 45 year old folks all partying in the same bars/restaurants. Made me feel young again ??

Yep, spot on. And if you go to Shem, you can raise that age range from 25-50 to 25-70.

That's also the plan. I fricking love Southern Charm (but moreso the OG cast with Cameron).

Just applied for one of the apts at The Caroline. Thanks for the input on the two locations we were considering

I heard a rumor that one or more of the places over on Shem Creek were swingers joints. Any truth to that?

Good for you man, it’s so eye opening leaving a place you know sucks and seeing that there are better alternatives.

I'd bail on my wife for Cameran and my wife probably wouldn't even be mad about it.

Been to Charleston several times. My daughter moved there after graduating from USC, lives in Mount Pleasant which is nice.

Rented a house on the beach at Isle of Palms couple of years ago and had a blast at the beach. Dog friendly beaches which is nice has the best beach IMHO. Just rented one at Folly Beach this past Thanksgiving, again dog friendly beaches. (Beach is ok) Nice little downtown area with local mom/pop restaurants which I like a lot.

Like Sullivan's Island as well, get yourself some Home Team BBQ there.

Want to party go to Shem Creek.

Lot of activity and great restaurants/bars in downtown area. Pop in for some seafood at Hanks or pack your wallet and eat at High Cotton, excellent food/drinks.

that big arse bridge freaks me out driving over it. Charleston is an old city but undergoing a lot of modernizations, out of staters moving in, like my daughter to the detriment of the locals and the charm.
