Dodged one there. Glad you're safe.

It is enormous right now in Mandeville. Looks to be significant damage in Mandeville.

You don't see this many long run tornadoes, and such voilent rotation signatures.
Especially in that area. I spent two decades on the gulf coast and never heard of a long track tornado like that.
That's the kind of thing you see in Memphis, Oklahoma City, or Little Rock....not Baton Rouge or New Orleans.

While everyone is here paying attention, I highly recommend people get a high end app for their phone and learn how to use it. You won't need the meteorologists when things are active.
Personally, I use RadarScope. It's $10. Get it and learn how to use four or five different tools. Practice on storms in other places and develop your eye and your instincts.
I can now be aware of a tornado and warn friends and family generally 8-10 minutes before the actual warning is issued.

Wow, those are legit tornadic supercells crossing the lake! It looked like the tail end of of those storms from earlier could cause trouble as they lifted out. Looks like they did. Hate to see that.

Anyone have any updates on the poplarville, ms area?
Sister reported being awoken by a tornado warning on her phone a couple of minutes ago. Think the system went north of her.

Big damage being reported in Abita Springs right now.

I'm a little further west than that. I'm not really sure about that area.

There is a huge risk of damage caused by uprooted pine trees on the northshore. They turn into flying missiles.

Just south of you TTT. We just said the same thing.

Scoop, you're right about that. I had a class right when that big storm came through in April. Being able to see what's coming, I said "frick it" and didn't get caught on Stanford with all the trees falling.
