The "second wave" it turns out is riding in right behind the first. HRRR has it through here by like 1-2 pm. Trending to be more of a heavy rain/flash flooding event for SELa vs severe.

Thinking more severe risk to the east of BR as the system eventually turns into one line and doesn't have it's inflow eaten by the blob in front.

I have an important meeting in LaPlace at 1. Driving there from Metairie. Hope the severe weather is east by then.

I have had two instances where I was driving across the spillway and tornado warnings were issued. Scared the hell out of me both times with the phone and radio blaring the warning. Luckily I don't think anything touched down in the area either time. Although for one of those days, a strong arse tornado did roll through La Place a few hours later.

Good day if you have an app that shows you lightning to watch for it. With it not being widespread, the best areas for severe potential should start popping off lightning a little before.

Whatever group or person that named Laplace has to be the most pretentious person(s) ever....or extremely lazy and uncreative.

I mean...it literally means THE place.

There's not much to it now.

You go to the velocity option. I typically go super res tilt 1. There, you look for what we call couplets where the red and green cluster together. The different colors show wind blowing toward or away from the radar. Right next to each other = rotation.

Example

You see something that might be a tornado today, point it out and I'll confirm or explain why it's not.
