Whatever group or person that named Laplace has to be the most pretentious person(s) ever....or extremely lazy and uncreative.
I mean...it literally means THE place.
Same goes for Lafayette
It literally means THE Fayette

Duke, please do that and thank you! I've always wondered why some are indicative of rotation and some are not.

There wasnt much to it ever.

So looking at the Laplace area now it seems there are several light areas of red mixed in the green. I guess those would be technically small areas but nothing significant?

Theres that small red bubble reflection but not a lot of green next to it.

As far as Ruston damage. My sister lives north of I-20 off of Farmerville hwy and they were hit pretty hard. They’ve got a couple of trees on their house. Totaled both vehicles. But everyone is safe.
But that area of town just isn’t being reported yet.

Yeah. So it's rotation over a broad area and not very strong (the brighter the color = higher speed). So dull red, gray, then green is a little wider spin.
It's when you get bright red next to bright green you have a strong circulation. Even then, if it's over a big area it's a rotating storm that is almost certainly severe but not tornadic. It's when the contrast is in a small area that says "tornado".
