thoughts and prayers to all the Ruston folk.
Some of the best salt of the earth type people from Ruston.
Unforgettable 4 years of my life spent in that Louisiana jewel of a town.

Are they supposed to host any baseball/softball games this weekend?

From the News Star... the Ruston local newspaper

quote:

The Lady Techsters are scheduled to host Western Kentucky this weekend for its final Conference USA home series of the regular season, but officials have told the News-Star that won't happen and they are unsure of what the plan for the three games will be at this stage.

Like I said earlier in this thread... the last few weeks the local media have lost their minds and it turned out to be nothing... watch this TSTORM/SLIGHT risk cause us some issues.

Watch it as it gets closer to the Northshore. Yeah though, it's still broad.

Dale I will let the more educated say. I don’t think it’s a nado at the moment.

As far as Ruston damage. My sister lives north of I-20 off of Farmerville hwy and they were hit pretty hard. They’ve got a couple of trees on their house. Totaled both vehicles. But everyone is safe.

But that area of town just isn’t being reported yet.

The same cell that produced the Ruston tornado first spun up in East Texas. San Augustine suffered extensive damage. It then crossed Toledo Bend into Louisiana, over I-49, though Coushatta, then Bienville Parish before hitting Ruston.

There are probably pockets of damage throughout N. LA that aren’t being reported yet. Thankfully the track of the storm was over mainly rural areas.

So bigger picture, not seeing a ton of support for many tornadoes or severe storms with this batch of storms. Still need to watch the stuff over the lake. On the back end, instability is creeping in but that's for later.

The bigger issue is lining up for some flooding problems.

18z is 1 pm.

Healthy moisture transport showing up. Good feed off the gulf.

Nice pocket of upper divergence in place BR and north. (pink circles showing the location)

Warm air advection showing up nicely on the 850 mb chart. (wind barbs running perpendicular to the red lines (isotherms) indicative of that)
