Well that was because Queen Elizabeth did that, right? Wasn’t it lead makeup as well?

Yes you’re right, she used lead based makeup. Sometimes you have to suffer for beauty

How many Englishmen in 1600 had ever laid eyes on a person who was not also English? How many who were not of European descent?

Putting current standards on historical cultures is ridiculous.

90% of Native Americans were wiped out by disease. The marxists teaching that the evil white colonizers exterminated the pacifist Native Americans is false revisionist history.

You might say she was plumb avant-garde.

I’m a little dusty on my Elizabethan Era fashion, but does Shakespeare coincide with the time that aristocrats would powder their faces with white makeup to look really pale and ghostly?

I don’t think it has anything to do with race, but rather the awful fashion trend of 16th century England and Europe.

I think there was a pretty good discussion of this topic here on the OT one time. Basically, the average Brit in that time had never seen anyone darker than a Spaniard or Eye-talian. Whiteness was associated with being upper class, not having a tan or stank like the dirty swarthy peasants who labored outdoors. "Fair skinned" remained a term of beauty for the lasses up through the 20th century.

The one time Shakespeare was actually referring to a Moop, it was overt. But Leftwing idiots are so brainwashed to look for micro-aggressions and problematic language, that they see them everywhere.

That fact so many of you don't see how Shakespeare is toxically problematic shows your inability to see that intersectional systemic racism is inherently problematic.
