of course they do. they can't allow crime to be reduced with the stroke of a pen.

It wouldn’t shock me if the cartels pay for this kind of support too
Are cartels in the marijuana business? Maybe some of them? But there is a lot more money in cocaine and heroin. And now I think they are in the fentanyl game. Im not sure if they are producing it. They might just be getting it from China and cutting their product, but if they were going to influence politicians to vote against legalizing it, it wouldn't be legal in California.

This area actually has a huge number of those jobs with all of the plants in the area
The problem with this is, even if it were legal, the jobs in this industry would still test and still pop you if positive for THC. Which is fricking ignorant. So the answer I believe is to develop a test, like breathalyzers, to see if you are high at that time. I would take the guy all day long operating shite who smoked the night before that the guy who drank a fifth of bourbon the night before.

Thats ok. Imma still be smoking and growing and supporting other "small businesses" that do the same and making a killing and the law cant do a damn thing about it. In fact, their refusal to make it legal makes this even more profitable for those who have their own small business.

New Orleans Rep. Candace Newell argued that her bill would create a booming economy for the state
I seriously doubt this. Our politicians would frick this up just like everything else.

However, police, sheriffs and district attorneys across the state strongly opposed the bill.
Of course they did. The will of the people be damned.

Why not make the tax money to help out our crumbling state?
They would never use the money appropriately and would just steal it honestly

Seriously ever walk or drive around any city in Louisiana in last 2 years. They all reak of marijuana bro. As far as I can tell everyone is already stoned.
The war on drugs is over, drugs won. Cops aren’t worried about weed they know that battle is over, they are worried about funding. The war on drugs has been a cash boon for them

Legalize it and tax the shite out of it.
Or just legalize it? Why does every aspect of personal freedom need to come with the caveat that the person exercising the freedom be taxed to hell?

Not how it works. Way too many voters stick to their party lines, which in this case means straight ticket to stick it to The Dems. Backwards logic in statewide or local muni races

I used to be pro legalization and I guess I am, but I don't like how in states where it's legal people just smoke it on the street.
Make it legal to buy, use, but illegal to use in public.
I don't want to smell that shite or have my kids around it.
this. people ruin everything. i hated smelling the shite everyhere in a rec weed state.
not excusing the legislature but this is a 'be careful what you wish for' thing.
NEVER underestimate how fricking trashy people are. and ill tell you, weed is never enough. they smoke + drink + do other drugs and then behave like fricking psychos. the weed doesnt even seem to calm them down, if anything it makes them even less inhibited.
