You’re getting a lot of shite here and it’s mostly due to ignorance (literally, not stupidity) of the situation because most of these people have never and will never face anything close to this, although with braindead biden in office anything is possible.
You’re right, if your wife refuses to leave you don’t have many options as far as making her but these Alpha dogs act like they could make their old lady do whatever they say.
There’s also a pile-on effect here where after a few “cool” posters pick a position on an issue the other little lapdogs all follow along trying to outdo the others snarky comments regardless of if it involves real life issues that affect people. Just filter out the shite comments.

I find it weird that you refer to your family members as “the mother in law”, “the wife”, etc. throughout this thread - like they are some impersonal objects.
“My wife” and “my mother in law” would sound more like you have an actual relationship with them. As a matter of fact, the entire story is weird. You had to leave them in a potential war zone to fly back to the US for meetings with doctors and lawyers about disability income as a 53 year old, yet you are able bodied enough to routinely fly unassisted around the world and bring dependent children into being…. That said, I hope that your family are all safe.

Okay so let’s apply laws and protocols here just for arguments sake.
He physically grabs the kid, wife tries to stop him and a scuffle ensues. Wife calls the cops and claim domestic abuse. He is arrested, all his firearms are seized and he’ll be in jail for a bit. When he gets out there will be a restraining order in place and his wife will have custody of the child pending whatever comes next.
So exactly what did you fricking accomplish?

Apparently her 15 year old son’s father was able to make decisions for that child. She travels back to see her son for 4 months of the year.

Oh ok since we are playing make believe let’s throw out a different scenario…
He leaves his wife and child in a warzone and they get raped and slaughtered by an invading army.
You do you. I know exactly what I would do. I’m not leaving that country without my child. And if for some reason we are separated I would fight and claw my way back in to get them out. Nothing would stop me.
