Is there any chance the homeowner could be charged since he went outside armed with his weapon drawn? I know you have no duty to retreat in Louisiana, but how does the law view going out of your way to confront someone armed?

The law would seem to be in his side. It's his property, so I see no reason with him waking on his property with a weapon.

In this situation, it is very very unlikely. There's no law against simply going outside into your yard armed with a gun.

Anyhow, after the Slidell Police took down the perp in Friday's Chineese resturant robery, a guy on FB stated that the SPD did a fine job due to their training in shooting to disable. Not shooting to kill.

Guarantee they weren't shooting to disable. Perp is just lucky to be alive

No kidding, why some people think a gun is a less lethal weapon is beyond me.

The Advocate article indicated that the 40 year old dad of the 22 year old decedent that he abandoned as a child is wondering what went wrong. Gee, I don't know.

Also, if the guy was hit with 6 shots, but 4 of them were at close range, it means he was hit at least once and kept charging. That would make me disregard the fact that he was unarmed when determining whether or not to file charges.

Homeowner should walk.
