Nikki Haley took down a confederate flag pole that had been there for like 8 years. The confederate war memorial is right next to it and is untouched to this day. Benjamin Tillman’s (who was a monster in many ways) statue is about 25 yards away and remains untouched to this day.
Like it or not Nikki Haley made the right call and as a result the memorial statues on the statehouse grounds both good and bad (which is how it should be) are still standing.
It’s not our fault you people didn’t get it right.

At one point, there were tense moments between protesters and police officers. Protesters deployed smoke canisters. One person was arrested and charged with resisting arrest and for concealing one's face during a public rally.
Please let this be true and a new trend...

Saw a brief news clip this morning. Didn't recognize these 3 fine members of the community, but by and large, the whole thing looked like a social gathering. It looked a little less festive than a post championship celebratory furniture burning, but FAR more joyous than, say, the March on Selma, Alabama. A lot of laughter, dancing, mugging for the cameras, posturing.
I think much progress was made.

What other laws should people ignore so that they can have a fun evening of ‘progress’?
Ignorant mob rule.
Ignorant mob rule.

Hopefully there will be at least one firing.

Throw all of those little budding liberals in jail.
They think they're being cool.

I'm struggling to figure out which side he is on.
When you have a protest like this, I wonder what percentage of the students protesting are actually paying their own tuition? Not their parents, not scholarship, but the fruits of their own labors are going to their own tuition.
I'd guess less than 1/2 of 1%.

Huh? Do you deny that Nimrata actively lobbied to remove the Battle Flag from the statehouse grounds in order to appease an SJW mob? A flag that was placed there as part of a compromise the NAACP agreed to? She would have lobbied to remove the statue also if that is what they demanded.
I can still picture her standing there looking smug while it was removed. Wouldn’t vote for her for dog catcher.

First the democrats put up the statues, then they tear them down. The dems can’t make up thier minds.

Quite a legacy these little shite heads in this generation are leaving for themselves to be remembered by. Cry baby, entitled, spoiled rotten destructive little shits.
Sure, but you have to be equally frustrated with the generation above them. Those in charge. The parents that let these destructive shits act without consequence. How did we let the mother of the kid breaking things in the store or the father of the kid kicking and screaming to get his way, run the show.
That’s the scary part. The majority of us see it as poor parenting, and that’s exactly what liberals are doing. Being the majority is meaningless if these types of actions continue. Why vote on anything if we can just do/take it ourselves.

Can you not separate the original intent of flying the Confederate Flag at the SC State House vs. the intent of the Silent Sam statue?

I mean it’s not even a conversation here anymore. We have moved on while other states are still struggling with an argument we settled amicably 3 years ago. Maybe by the time Dylan Roof catches a needle y’all will have it figured out.
