Is this the thread where people pretend LSU used to have robust academic prerequisites to admission?

And there were dumbasses on here that kept saying Tate was a great choice

You don’t have to be woke to understand that LSU was not always considered a top academic destination. In fact, I would argue that LSU has been better lately about being considered academically successful. The Cybersecurity program is getting recognized as a quality destination along with the rest of engineering. Also, Agriculture, Energy, and Coastal Studies are also very good. I also feel like Business and Human Sciences produce great students. Just my opinion though.

Now we know what swung Sam Leavitt to LSU, more classy acts like this at LSU than any other university.

Who cares? As long as we have a good football team. That’s all that matters.

Not true. Yes it was modest requirements historically.. but a few years back.. around 10 I think… lsu actually upped their requirements.. scores.. classes.. you had to have decent math classes behind you and chemistry or a baby physics I believe.. they were focused on increasing the academic standings.. they also focused on research project.. grad students and maintaining upperclassmen levels.. all very important in academic standings.
I think it lasted two years.. attendance actually dropped.. they then reduced requirement.. and then at sometime just gave up and went to this now embarrassing situation..

I'm neither woke nor a moron, but I do know LSU had open admissions until like the 90s, and the standards weren't that stringent into the early 00s when I slummed it at LSU.

I slummed it at LSU.
You can't pretend to be the smartest kid in class with a campus full of smart kids.

You think this is just a LSU problem?
The two biggest groups in the US is white and black. Out of that, the least likely to go to college is white males. The amount of black males going to college has skyrocketed.
I also saw that the demographics that are switching or registering to the Republican party at the fastest rate is black males, which is interesting. But just like when you was in college, when I was in college, they are institutions of the time.
