We can't change it while still providing support. The leaders are not going to implement any changes mentioned in this thread unless support dries up.

They are getting money in the form of tuition, fees and grants with the current policies and alumni / fans are subsidizing with donations and tickets purchases.

Cancel tickets, you can host watch parties with better food and a safer atmosphere

Stop donating to TAF or the university alumni orgs

Dont send your kids there

Short of these actions taken by a large majority of alums / fans nothing will change. Just look at the direction of the city around it

Anyone else see the irony of complaining about BR thug life on game day and having a light show in the stadium to a song that celebrates BR thug life?

Y’all have already covered ideas like razing the area, LSU purchasing nearby land, proactive policing, and legislative pressure.

However, another step may be for TigerDroppings to post a travel advisory for visitors attending campus sporting events such as football and basketball games, as well as nearby nightlife venues. Many visiting fans visit the site, and such information could enhance public awareness and safety.

Proposed Advisory:
Visitors are strongly advised to avoid, or exercise extreme caution in, the North Gate area along Highland Road and adjacent streets, particularly during and after major sporting events.

Law enforcement has responded to multiple incidents in this area, including gunfire, physical altercations, vehicle break-ins, and harassment of attendees. In recent months, large groups of individuals unaffiliated with the university have frequently gathered in these locations, resulting in several large-scale police responses.

You have been signed up for a while, but you haven't seen the board do this again, and again, and again?

I am talking pinned to the top, year round, on Tiger Rant, OT, and anywhere else relevant. Within the pinned message - or heck, label a new chatroom Travel Advisory (or just title it the LSU Crime forum) and place it between OT and Politics, and make it a place to discuss LSU crime. Perhaps, pin a message calling on alumni to stop giving to the TAF. On OT, things get pinned for a while then disappear. And disappear behind what? Discussions of how long does your family go between clipping toenails, are colonoscopies ghey, and other such compelling topics. Give TD a dedicated LSU Crime forum that never goes away.

Your expectations are way too high for this place. The LA crowd loves nothing more than bitching about how things must be much worse in Texas, so they need to live near their cousins to fish and earn 40% of the income they could earn elsewhere.

Things will change when BR gets the loop (me 30 years ago).

Baton Rouge sucks in general - I am 8-9 miles away from campus, very close to the magical St. George city boundary

It constantly smells like weed and there were 8 gun shots reported two Sundays ago. (Gun shots might’ve come from St George)

Best thing is not come here.

I was told by this board about 5000 times that Tate was great. Because he liked sports apparently.

Oh, wow, don't be specific. Let me guess, that group is irrationally afraid of large dogs?

It's a matter of minutes before this thread gets RA'd, just get it over with.

Im referring to the people who are standing/walking around campus not even tailgating, smoking weed out in the open and being disrespectful and getting into conflicts resulting in gunfire in an area with lots of small children and families. I do not have an issue with people actually attending or having their own tailgates. I’ll also add that what is going on is unfair to the black fraternities and sororities as well. They shouldn’t have to worry about their tailgates being shot up because a bunch of assholes decide to bring a gun and start altercations near their tailgates. LSU needs to take serious action to prevent this.

To echo another poster's point, LSU's problems stem more from and are more symptomatic of Baton Rouge than the institution itself.

Tennessee is the same size and has roughly the same demographic composition of LSU, yet we don't see half the issues y'all seem to encounter., Why? Take a look at the surrounding area.

Ask Carnival Cruise Line...

Seriously use either game tickets OR Student ID's to access campus on gamed...it's not an open party venue for the non-LSU affiliated people.

funnel some of the TAF/NIL money into the actual university such that the mentality of admit everyone with a pulse to make money could slow the frick down... the rest would kind of take care of itself really

North of LSU isn’t any worse than it was in the late 90’s.

LSU changing the whole Gameday tradition and forcing everyone South was the start. Used to be that there was tailgating all up and down Highland and all over the North part of campus. It was full of old school diehard fans and it policed itself. All of those people are gone. Almost killing Old Row didn’t help either. Fraternities use to have houses and front yards full of alumni and friends. LSU killed that as well.

Correct. Fraternities traditionally had pre and post game parties that were essentially invitation only and regulated. Moving the frats to the parade grounds (or maybe they moved themselves) just created a massive block party that brings chaos to the area and attracts people who wouldn't historically be there. This is why they hang out on the fringes of it (north gates), and apparently shoot it up while everyone else is at the game.

And the scene from outside of the Chimes after the game is most definitely new. A huge street party with people jumping on cars? Paging BRPD.... Where were you???
