I guess the 4-day weekend will be turning into 5 day weekend for Ascension
They haven't announced Ascension schools closing......yet....
ETA:

Due to the anticipated winter weather that may impact safe travel in our area, schools will be closed on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, and we will have asynchronous virtual learning on this day. Your child’s teacher will assign work to be completed anytime before students return to school.
Additionally, all afterschool activities scheduled for Tuesday, January 21, 2025, including the Ascension Parish School Board Meeting, are canceled. The School Board Meeting will be rescheduled to Tuesday, January 28, 2025.
We understand that this change may require some adjustments, but it is necessary to meet state requirements for the specific number of academic minutes in a school year. Earlier this year, we were closed for three days in September due to Hurricane Francine. In order to avoid extending the school year or canceling a scheduled holiday, we need to be flexible with virtual learning during closures like this one.
As a reminder, schools will also be closed on Monday, January 20, 2025, in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. We will continue to monitor the weather forecast and will communicate any updates regarding the schedule for Wednesday, January 22, 2025, as soon as possible.

"Outside of the capital area, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette will be operating remotely on Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 21 and 22."
As per usual, ULL taking the lead.

LSU closed Tuesday, no word on Wednesday yet. Last time they had extended cold they had to close for extra day due to water pressure issues.

If it actually snows on Tuesday you can bet schools will be closed on Wednesday as well as ice won’t thaw until later Wednesday.

I mean is there a reason they can’t wait til Sunday to make this decision?

I'll make this thread easy to follow:
All schools in all parishes will be closed Tues Jan 21.

and announcing it today, when the forecast seems pretty set, does nothing more that give people more opportunity to prepare/make arrangements - so what is the down side?
seriously - your guys infatuation with shitting on schools in regards to weather is borderline psychotic.

These school closure lists always crack me - way more efficient to list what’s open.

No way schools will be open Wednesday either. The low Tuesday night will be in the low 20s or teens. The roads will still be iced up and there will be power outages due to ice.
Possible 1/2 day (late take-in)

Acadia only goes Tue-Thu anyway…got the email earlier that they are cancelling school Tuesday and Wednesday due to weather. It’s looking like we will get some weather we aren’t accustomed to dealing with so I get it but why not pick up the Monday to make up for it
