My son gets his license in a couple months, if I don’t add him to my policy are they going to deny claim when he gets in an accident?

Example? I have never seen a company get around this.
My daughter is a resident relative that I did not disclose on my application. I gave her permission to drive my car. She is not insured.

So, a misrepresentation? BTW, SF would cover

IOW, state minimum liability.
Not a chance I’m carrying less than 100/300 these days. When I was traveling full time and driving my own car, it was 250/500 with a $1 million umbrella. You are screwed if you ever get in an at-fault accident with this coverage limits unless you carry an umbrella policy.

Really? Progressive and other minimum policy insurers are denying these left and right.

I saw progressive deny a claim like this

If she gets in an accident, they very well may decline affording her coverage because of fraud if the reason you did not tell them was to avoid rate hikes or they asked you if she lived there and lied. Now if she became a licensed driver after your application and you just "forgot to add her" then there is no fraud.

I’m not talking about fraud. I’m talking about coverage.

quote:Well if you know your daughter is a licensed driver living in your house and suspect she will drive your vehicles and when asked who are the licensed drivers in your house, you leave her off the list, then you committed fraud. When you commit fraud, they can deny coverage.
I’m not talking about fraud. I’m talking about coverage.

Semantics... but ain't nobody prosecuting or suing for civil fraud in these situations. So it's a coverage issue, and I'm seeing more and more insurance companies denying based on minor policy details they otherwise may not have.
Or that more of these infractions are being committed because of inflation and affordability.

Dude, it’s not a minor detail. I have seen it happen. But you do you. Smart guy

The claim would be denied on the basis of fraud. Undisclosed youthful drivers cause lots of accidents, litigation and payouts without the insurance companies ever being able to price the risk properly

They would only rate the teen driver on 1 vehicle and not apply all drivers to all vehicles in household.
You mean gaming rates which is fraud?

If you want to roll the dice, go ahead. But when she gets hit by someone, it'll be no pay no play and your car isn't getting fixed and she isn't getting medical care outside of her health insurance.
