My neighbor just got access to our community on St Augustine Beach. No damage what so ever and the power is back on.

I'm so relieved. I thought for sure that it must have been flooded.

A few miles north at Vilano beach, houses were completely destroyed according to reports.

Prayers to those who weren't as fortunate.

Maybe we need to start a drive for those that flooded even though many here are still trying to recover. We all know that just having dry arse wipe is a plus.

I just back to my house on Amelia Island, I've already got cable and power back.

I didn't see any major damage on the Island.

Weather Channel coverage made it sound like the Island was under water yesterday. Not the case.

Any problem with the curfew? 8PM to 8AM... we are leaving at 5 AM to try and beat traffic. We are in Rockhill and thought about heading back this afternoon but the curfew stopped us from leaving.

No damage to our house in James Island and power just came back. Water came about a foot higher than floor last year. A few trees down in the neighborhood but not much.

Went from MtP via 526 to 26 then 7 thru WA then to JI. Now Ravenel is open.

How is the Angel Oak Tree?

This is the only little blurb I could find mentioning it, but it's great news. Unbelievable all of the natural and manmade disasters Angel Oak has survived in 400-500+ years.Like I said in another post..if that tree could talk, I know the stories it would tell would be absolutely fascinating.

The good news, there are no serious injuries reported and there is no damage to the iconic Angel Oak Tree on Johns Island.

No issues with curfew. Just got back into Charleston. The roads are eerily quiet. Lots of downed trees and signs but not nearly as bad as I expected. Back yard is full of limbs but no damage to the house. Power and cable is on. I'll be having a fire tomorrow if anyone wants to come drink some beer and roast some dogs.

Things are getting a bit tense in Bluffton/Hilton Head. Damage is pretty bad and extensive, curfew from 7-7. They have sheriff/national guard parked on the county line on all roads and aren't letting anyone in, regardless of proof of residency. Hundreds of people spent the night on the side of hwy 278.

Wow people are dumb. I understand the desire to go back soon but the whole island may still be uninhabitable. I thought I was jumping the gun heading back last night over a shorter distance to a safer place. So many people around here just don't know - either underestimating the power of these storms or not understanding the recovery process.

We've got power as of last night.
