Outback. We got one for my wife last year and it's been great. I'd buy a second one for me if I didn't need a truck for work.

I get the choose my company car and they gave me the option of a Subaru Outback Premier or a base model Toyota Highlander
Those are two ugly assed choices IMHO, is there not a option C?

I just got a company forester, not an outback, but still a great car. Go test drive both.

I have an outback. I love it

Bought a 2020 Outback Touring Edition in October—with the turbo 4...it has more HP than the 2017 3.6R six cylinder that we traded in, and is pretty quick. It’s the wife’s (not a lesbian) 6th Subaru (puppy wagon) in 20 years.

Always go premier over basic on someone elses dime.

In my opinion for overall reliability go with with the Toyota. I've had both and while the AWD is nice, the Subaru does get a lot of little repairs that add up. The Toyota is mostly bullet proof.

I had the cvt crap out on my 2013 outback at around 60k. However I’m the only person I know of that’s had major issues with a Subaru. So do with that what you will.

My fully loaded 2016 outback is the best car I’ve ever owned, including a very nice 4Runner.
It’s an awesome vehicle.

I dont know much about the Highlander. But I do have a Subaru outback company vehicle.
I like the safety features and adaptive cruise control on the Subaru. Does the Highlander have that?
Adaptive cruise has been a game changer and I don't want another vehicle with out it. I drive in a lot of bumper to bumper stop and go traffic. With adaptive cruise you can set it and the vehicle will keep up with traffic. You just have to steer. I also feel safer knowing the Subaru has the emergency braking if needed.
The only thing I dont like about my Subaru is the 4 cylinder. If I was ever going to purchase one it would have the 6 cylinder.
Lastly the Subaru all wheel drive is legit. It great to have on rain slick roads. I took it to Colorado last winter and it snowed every day. The awd performance was awesome.

The LE version of the Highlander really lacks features. I'd go with the Outback Premium.

What’s the boards opinion on the Toyota 4Runner?
Thinking about getting one for one of my kids. They like it.

Never driven the Subaru, but the Highlander handles like a minivan.
If you like the minivan feel, get the Yota.
Go drive an Outback.

Highlander has the same cruise and autobraking features.
We just bought one and I tell my wife it’s a glorified mini van.

Lesbian jokes aside, my wife has an Outback and we love it. It's super comfortable (lots of room), has a lot of safety features, is quite capable in inclement weather, and I think it's a nice-looking vehicle. If I didn't need a truck, I'd consider a Subaru for myself.

Chevy Equinox and Chevy Traverse were the other options. Rating on these cars didn't look as good as the Outback and the Highlander so I eliminated them.
