you realize probably less that 50% of teachers are in unions? (I’m not, for example). And a lot of the unions are run by non teachers. I agree with the the premise of your post for what it’s worth.

Most teachers are only in them bc daily parents make complains about bullshite and the chicken crap administration whacks the teacher. You make any noise and they get rid of you. Union protection is all you got.

I completely agree that it's mostly the parent's fault. I'm a teacher and one time we had a career day for our class. One of the dads said he had three jobs so it was obvious he never spent any time with his son. Between being a semi-professional racecar driver, amateur tattoo artist and volunteer fireman, he must have been incredibly tired all the time because he said some crazy stuff and I had to get the janitors to throw him out of the building.

I volunteered at a local elementary school today for Junior Achievement, and those kids behaved terribly. No respect whatsoever even when the teacher tried to get their attention. I can see why teachers are exhausted after 8 straight hours of dealing with them. It made me realize we have an at home discipline problem which is directly impacting society.

The behavior of those children is tied directly to the fall of teachers and principals being able to whip them. You can thank helicopter parents that believe their little Johnny would NEVER misbehave.

Teachers have a ridiculously hard job in some districts. You can't fix it by throwing money at the problem, its all on parenting and community values which are both in decline.

I wasn’t trying to troll. Those kids were so poorly behaved. They couldn’t even give me and my coworker attention for even a few minutes of our lesson

Shock collars are the only answer, a gentle, but wholesome discipline. Or, for the older, lost souls:

Exactly, Im not in a union and never would be on principle. FYI, the teacher unions in La don't do anything anyways.

A lot of truth to this, but you don't have to join DEA or a state DEA, there are other options that are far cheaper, have conservative values, and provide more protection for teachers.

Yeah because public school teachers were beating children back in the 1970s?

Some of yall have really strange thoughts.

While I agree with your premise, not sure whipping is the right word, but most certainly the failure of public schools is twofold:
1. Parenting failure of young adults who refuse to discipline their children in any meaningful way, and want to be their freind, and put them on a pedestal. They don't need you as a friend, they need you as a parent.
2. Removing the ability for school employees to take any action to discipline a child, in any way. Whether that should include corporal punishment and other means of training.

But that can't happen without fixing the parenting issues that exist today.
Democrats brought this on by devaluing the two parent home, and it is getting worse and worse every single year.

When I was in school, I got paddled, I had teachers pull my hair, and rake my hands with a ruler, and I got more of the same when I got home. Guess what, I didn't act up that much because I knew there was a punishment coming. That doesn't exist with young parents today.

Buddy, I was in elementary school from 2000-2005. The principal had a paddle, and he used it. Our elementary school was a blue ribbon school.

But it’s the teachers. They are lazy, fat and dumb. They are the main problem in education. Not the apathetic rude student, absent parent, the over paid administration , the out of touch school board or the over paid Superintendent - it’s the teacher you idiots!!!! The OT.

I think most teachers are in it for the right reason. The issue and stereotype arise when the loudest voices are the ones getting arrested for various reasons, unions complaining about teachers not being able to teach elementary students about sex and gender identity, unions pushing for extending virtual school even further, and teachers who get more from social media attention than they do actually teaching.

It's just like NOLA. It is seen as a violent city, but only 14 of every 1000 people will experience violent crime. 986 out of 1000 will be safe from violent crime ... obviously it's safe and just another OT stereotype!
