The generations of people that hate these statues are some sorry people.
Politicians, especially ones that were making decisions 100 years ago, need to be looked at like I've always looked at a job. If the good outweighs the bad, you stick with it.
Teddy did more for our country, than all of these weak minded individuals combined, will ever do.

So horse ownership is bigoted?
I don't agree with them, but if you're intellectually honest its pretty clear. White man rides ok high horse while minorities walk on his side to serve him.

I'm not saying I agree with taking it down, but it ain't the best statue to showcase Teddy's non-racist side.

Will they go back and edit him out of the movie now.
Posted on 6/21/20 at 7:17 pm to lsuwontonwrap
I will never go there now. I'm big on museums and like to go whenever I go to new places but that's ducking insane.
Posted on 6/21/20 at 7:18 pm to lsuwontonwrap
But wait, I thought statues in museums were ok.

This is so stupid. So basically everyone before integration is going to be removed?

Since when has a life of service, especially to a great and powerful person, been considered a negative attribute?
if anything, it shows that President Roosevelt was very progressive in having people of color within his most inner circle.

This one is outside.
I agree though, they should be in a museum. The Lee statue in NOLA should have been put in the Ogden when it came down.

As opposed to you idiots who will say slavery had nothing to do with it.
I never said that, ****, it was a part of it but not the sole reason for the civil war like dipshits like you believe. It was about disproportionate representation of southern states in a government that was reaping all of their agricultural riches. You ignorant frick.

quote:He represents an African. Both the Native American and him are meant to represent his guides. Much of that part of the museum centers on Africa and its people and animals and many are depicted in the same way. The faux outrage here is simply that he’s above them on a horse even though it’s not a historical inaccuracy. But frick accuracy, right? Facts are mean.
Having the black guy walking barefoot and nude while barely covered is probably a bad look as well

The Rough Riders didn't ride up San Juan Hill, they walked (the horses had been left behind in Tampa)

Well why stop there. Let's tear down every building and institution that existed prior to Jan 1 1863

Again, I said I didn't agree with them. The problem with most of the slack jawed idiots on this site won't even acknowledge the other side of the argument.
I'm not sure I 100% agree with your take, but I'm closer to your side than the protesters. However, your above statement is a question that needs to be asked to someone who wants the statue down for not me.

Thanks. I googled it. Kind of an awkward statue TBH.

All 3 look badass. Neither of the two are subservient.

If you could point to where I said that, that'd be great.

Why can you see the Native's hands but the black dude looks like the cloth is covering handcuffs?
