One of the Little Fut's & spouse have a black Labradoodle that looks like this one.
Male, De-balled at age 5 mos.
Pros:
Smart (knows a bunch of commands and words)
Sweet
Zero shedding
Zero accidents inside
Great with babies/kids
Defensive with barking to strangers
Easy dietary constraints
Will play fetch all day
Is so cute that walking him in a public place might even get Owlie laid
Cons
Would be in trouble against a more aggressive dog
Requires regular maintenance of coat (brushing) and grooming (inside his ears are particularly problematic)
He's only going to live about 15 more years max

Also all of this. The mounds of hair even after constant brushing are pretty remarkable.

my goldendoodle was a great dog but yeah the grooming on them can be a bit much, go a day or two without brushing it and there'd be knots.
mine also threw up basically every time I put it in the car, but don't think that's an issue with the breed

Considering Goldens and Poodles are both great dogs it shouldn't be an arse. I've been around a few and they just look and act like big goofy muppets.

So AUC,
How has this situation turned out? Can I get an update?
Looks like my family will be adding IrishDoodle (Irish setter/poodle)at around New Years.

Sister had one. These dogs are incredibly dumb, even by dumb dog standards. Her dog would shyte on her lazy boy and lay down in it for a nap.

It will be your inseperable friend, your shadow, it will want to go outside and run around but wants you there with it. Pit inside too much I tmay eat your garbage, rugs, corners of sills, and molding even Sheetrock.
A friends Labradoodle figure out if it hovers its nose over the automatic garbage can, it will flip open and make available all sorts of wonderful edibles,

One of my coworkers has a Berniedoodle, Bernese Mountain Dog/poodle. fricker is gigantic, I’m 6’ and he can easily put his paws on the front of my shoulders. He’s very smart and obedient but is also a total spaz and EXTREMELY excitable. She has him trained well but he still gets so hyped so easily. Looks like a fun dog to have though, never a dull moment.

My in-laws have one and he insists on making love to me. I have successfully rejected all advances.

He is a lot bigger than expected. I think the poodle side gives him high intelligence. We tried putting him in a large kennel, but he figured out a way to break out. When we leave, he gets pissed off and shits in the same spot everytime. Every time. Overall, not a bad dog. Not hyper. Barks when strangers come up. He stinks if not groomed. No shedding.

We got our female Goldendoodle after new years last year. She will be 1 tomorrow. She was projected to be between 25-35 pounds and she is right at 30lbs. Great great dog. She is super smart but listens really well. She is calm for the most part but loves to play and will all day if someone is willing to or there is another dog around. She doesn't display any aggression but watches over my wife and kids like a hawk and will let you know if she thinks they are in danger. No shedding but she does have to been cleaned and brushed often. Their paws and the hair on their paws collect all kinds of water or mud if it is wet and muddy outside. Great dogs though. Ours is an F1B which means her mom was a poodle/ golden mix and her dad was a small poodle. F1B's are the most hypoallergenic if I remember correctly.
Almost forgot, she likes to be outside or taken for walks. She hasn't destroyed too much either, which is nice. A pair of flip flops, some stuffed animals, etc. but I have heard of some as pups chewing on window sills, furniture, etc. We haven't experienced any of that.

Get a standard poodle if you want that type of dog and not a doodle of any sort. Not a doodle.
Doodles are overweight. Standard poodle tops out at about 50 lb and is athletic, smart, docile, swims, retrieves and does not shed.
