NIL, although it had no name before, has been going on since before SMU got the death penalty. College athletes transferring has been going on just as long, although they had to sit out a year. Nothing has really changed, except now we know how much money the players are making.
No offense, but what a brain dead take.

I don’t mind the Ireland game, but week zero is still lame IMO
I respect the people who will take football in any form, but i prefer when it’s 0-60 with everything on Labor Day weekend.

I always got excited for football because I had nothing to do during the offseason. With work and going back to concerts the last three years, I’ve stayed busy. I’m not playing fantasy football for the first time since 2010.
At least Louder Than Life falls on BAMA’s bye week this year and not the Georgia game.

How so?
You’re trying to make a serious case that since before SMU got the death penalty nothing much has changed regarding NIL and transferring?
Every single human that has been watching college football for more than 20 years knows how absurd that statement is.
I wonder how many players each year in the 90s transferred between d1 schools compared to 2024.
2024 was 2000+ FBS players that actually committed and transferred to a different school.
How many do you think there were in 1995? Maybe 50? And they were restricted to a different conference most of the time and had to waste a year of eligibility.

I will admit that lumping the transfer part of the argument with the money part was dumb of me. Me saying that players have always transferred is true, but you are right, it was disingenuous. They are certainly transferring at a much higher rate now. And I don't like it.
However, I stand by the moneyball part of my argument. It has always been and was always going to be, with or without NIL.

Yeah I don’t care about this at all. Less than zero

It wasn't pretty but it was a good game. I am glad CFB is back.

I agree with you 100% about the pay to play going on for decades. It just moved from the shadows into daylight with NIL.

Amen. This summer seemed long as hell for some reason. Even my kids were ready to get back to school.

This is the 7th season to start out with the season opener being in Ireland.
Why do they do that? Irish are soccer fans. Maybe Trump can put an end to it or at least levy a tariff on it

Remember the melt when Nuss didn’t play that game to preserve his redshirt
A week before the first game a lot of Tiger fans are glad he didn’t play that night
