Are you aware that the first gospel to be written was penned more than 50 years after Jesus allegedly died?
Yes, that is actually pretty good. There were plenty of eye witnessed that were still living that knew Jesus and they were there for the crucifixion. Hundreds of people were interviewed.
Are you aware that the first writings of Jesus in Islam occurred 600 years after Jesus allegedly died?

It's fading for sure. My generation is much less religious than my parents was/is, etc
Before my 87 year old Dad died a couple of years ago, we were speaking about this. He said the generations before him had to deal with a lot of tough times (WW1, WW2, Great Depression, etc). Life expectancy was less, health care was non-existent or in its infancy. For most (the Working Class) , there was not a lot of hope so you had to look for something and a higher power was the only thing.
You worked your arse off, lucky to rest on Saturday and you went with your family to church on Sunday. For some, church was a habit or social outing but regardless, you still went.
I am speaking from the Christianity perspective.....as for Hindu, Islam, etc, I’m not sure if there has been a “fading”.

Many of the books of the Old Testament were written hundreds and hundreds of years before such religions as Mithraism. So, can we conclude that Mithraism borrowed from the Old Testament.

those churches with rock bands and energetic music used to manipulate people, along with a way too positive message fora religion, do not give me faith that it will be a good development.

You're justification for the bible being "accurate" is the translation over centuries. What we mean by accurate is whether or not there is truth in the bible.
I could write a book about blue alien lizards, and even if the translation remains pure over two thousand years, it's still a crock of shite.
I'm sorry you actually had to explain this. I know it seems like it would be obvious to most people.

As long as people seek answers to “why” and “how” there will always be religion.

We can trust it to be what it says it is: the word of God.
Genesis 1, 26 says "Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness...."
Who is "us"? Who is "our"?

You don't understand the concept of free will. Let me guess, you are against the death penalty but pro choice?

Millennials will get religion when they have kids. Kids that don’t go to church end up in jail

i agree with this. just like 2000 yrs ago people prayed to Zeus and Odin and such.

And once it’s revealled that the Pope is the Anti Christ people will start flocking to baptist churches.

Further, no contemporary author wrote about Jesus, ever. Like, at all. Literally Every story about him is hearsay
Besides the eyewitness accounts of Jesus by his apostles, He is mentioned in the writings of the Jewish historian Josephus and also in Roman historical writings. Jesus indeed walked the earth about 2000 years ago. Now, whether or not a person believes what was written about Him is entirely up to them.
The Old Testament is a different story. There is little to no history from surrounding cultures or physical evidence that support the Old Testament stories until the time of King David. These early Old Testament books seem to have been appropriated from the Sumerian culture, modified by Hebrew scribes, that were used to teach moral lessons.

Now the bible on the other hand, science has been puncturing holes in that for hundreds of years.
Science has been poking holes in science for hundreds of years, that is what science does.
The bible is an amazing book to read regardless if you believe in it or not. It was and still is the foundation of so much of our past and future.
With regard to religion, it served and still serves a very important societal function for people that science has no answer for.
People are going to put their fiath, morality, and beliefs in something. The better question should be, what can we do to foster these religions into a more homogeneous system within our diverse country.
In any-case, religion is man made and full of the flaws of man.

Negative. The more we evolve, the more answers we will get.
The future of religion is going the way of the dodo bird.

I would say the more we learn the more questions we have.
There is always going to be a "why" and "how" for new things that we learn.

quote:I know this dude is trolling but many religious folks actually believe this
More importantly you will see every opportunity you had to come to know Jesus and that you refused. The punishment will be just. If an individual has never had the opportunity to know Jesus in his entire life then God will not send him to hell because he is a fair God
I love the idea that you can be a piece of shite human your whole life but as long as you accept God and ask for forgiveness, God will forgiveness your sins and you can go to heaven.
But the person who doesn't believe in God but lives life as a truly good person doing right by others... That guy goes to Hell for not accepting God.
