Only if you are willing to drive an old beater.

There are still cheap good cars out there. Just not gonna be as luxurious as new models. You can go get a cheap truck but it won't have a 17 inch touch screen or heated seats

Huh?

Why would old beaters be your only real option?

For large SUVs and trucks it is. Harder to find one if those than a house right now

Well I guess I phrased that wrong. You have to really hunt for deal. Hypothetically speaking someone is offering 2-3k more than I spent on a truck 2 years ago and I put 10k miles on it im selling and buying something without the bells and whistles to last a few years and see how the market plays out

Earlier this week I sold my Jeep for $1,800 more than I purchased it for. It's nuts. I probably could have made more, considering they took my initial offer with minimal pushback. They really didn't even try to seriously negotiate.

I just couldn't wrap my mind around the fact that I owned the Jeep for 3 years, put 55,000 miles on it then sold it for more than I initially paid.

Exactly. I've seen 21k for my truck with 10k more miles than I have with no rear locker. I paid 24k 4 years ago when it had 60k miles. I did just put a new suspension in though. Cost me 1900 installed

Just ordered a new highlander yesterday that is being built next week. Toyota dealers are showing inventory of future vehicles now since their inventory is so low.

I traded in a highlander that in January I was offered $18K on for trade in, traded it for $25.5K yesterday.

Amazing.

And I was able to talk them down $4K on the new one, which I wasn't sure if I would be able to do since they sell them as soon as they hit the lot.

We have a 2018 Subaru Outback Touring 3.6R. We paid like 42,000 after TTL. Has 28,700 miles on it.

We have been offered $30,000 from Carmax.

I’m tempted to take the $16,000 in equity and use it for house repairs, and just go buy her a new vehicle. This strikes me as a poor decision though.

Bought a 2016 Subaru Outback in February. 75,000 miles on it. $17,000.

I'm already seeing the same 2016 model with similar mileage going for $1,500 more when doing a quick search.

What amazes me is these trucks with 100-120k miles being listed for 35-40k. Who is paying that for a truck with no warranty. And who is financing that kind of money on a 4-5 year old truck. By the end of your term it might be 10 years old.

I just checked what similar to my 2016 Tundra SR5 4x4 were selling for. $25k-$28k, which is crazy, I paid I think $37 5 years ago. I love my truck, but no way I would pay what they are selling for, nor will I be selling it if this is what all prices look like.

We just got a pretty good deal on a 2020 SUV coming off a lease with all the bells and whistles last week. The crazy part was they offered us $2000 more on trade in than the same place did a year ago on our old vehicle. The girl said she's never seen such generous trade-in offers, even on older beater cars.

I just traded in my 2019 GMC Sierra with 31k miles on it for exactly what I paid for it two years ago. I was having some minor issues with it and I drive a lot for work so I just traded up. Didn’t get a great deal on the new truck just the std rebates but upgraded and note is only a little more.

Is this really all that weird? People finance cars that are 10 years old

anyone know how long this will last roughly?

my wife is due for a new car (upgrade to midsize SUV), but we were planning on waiting till the fall, but if you get good trade-ins right now, we would want to capitalize off of that
