So why is this so scary? I must have missed it. The chick got the flu and the guy barely registered he had it. That's it? This is why we're trampling on people's rights and destroying the economy?

If this is scary to you, I suggest you never go whitewater rafting or ride a rollercoaster. Your heart won't make it.

In honesty, doesn't sound as bad as the flu. Not even close.

Most lucid people aren't scared for themselves, but some of us have family members with weakened immune systems due to health reasons that weren't their fault.

Shutting down the country isn't the answer, but there are people who need to be legitimately concerned.

Basically, he never would have known he had it if his wife hadn't been seriously sick. He would have shrugged it off as a small bug.

That’s what’s so scary? My god we live in a pussified world

Then those people should be sheltering in place and taking extreme quarantine measures to prevent contracting the virus.

And they are, but to say "survival of the fittest," even in jest, is callous.

Exactly. If you are worried because you may carry it without knowing, then don’t visit immune compromised individuals and the elderly.

Why? This is the real world, not some fairy tale. Where did this “even if it saves one life” bullshite come from? It’s from selfish arse people who in reality want to control others because they are scared of either themselves or someone they love getting sick. It has nothing to to with the greater good.

Sure as shite wish we took this approach with our military overseas. Would’ve ended foreign conflicts much sooner.

Wow ! Someone with a lick of sense in here.
You’re wasting your time for the most part. A ton of the people in here are either 13 or completely ignorant. They don’t seem to care because they are young and in better shape than an Olympic swimmer. They could care less if they pass it on to a loved one, or one of yours who may have severe complications from it. It’s not their problem. None of them have mothers, fathers, or grandparents that may not want to die or spend 3 weeks in a hospital. None of them are related to a health care worker who is putting themselves and their families at risk every day. Half of the stuff I read in here makes me embarrassed to say that I’m from Louisiana. I’m not talking about everyone, of course.

It's not rocket science people....it is "scary" because some who are infected can be asymptomatic and go about their normal business and continue with community spread. Yes, most who get it will recover, until the community spread continues and eventually gets to your grandmother or a nursing and they die. So the "scary" part is someone who asymptomatic can spread the virus without knowing it, and likely will never know it. This can mostly be prevented if people become hand cleaning Nazi, stop touching their face, and practice social distancing.

Couldn’t care less*

And could I not avoid seeing those people and continue to live a normal fricking existence?
