The new MX-5s are really nice. A little heavy compared to old models but if you lived in the city and just needed a commuter why dont more people buy it? I guess it's the stigma that it's for gheys

I commute in one of these and have no problem with it. We originally bought it for my wife (I already had a newer 4Runner) but now she's working from home so it makes sense for me to drive the Mazda back and forth.

Modern Mazda makes great cars. The 6's are hands down the best-looking midsize sedans that doesn't cost $60k new, they have tons of tech and a very refined upscale interior, and as others have said, they are a blast to drive if you're into that sort of thing. They feel alive and athletic in a way that most cars just don't.

Go all the way to the top and get a Signature with the 2.5T engine. I've heard they are wonderful. Also, a gently used one is a great buy. 2 years old CPO with low miles and they're $10k off.

I bought the wife a 626 back in the early 2000's and it turned out to be a total POS car with a lousy, from the factory transmission. Damn thing quit at 75K miles and had to upgrade with an aftermarket one and not OEM.

I'd never buy another Mazda, but that's just me.

ETA: Forgot to mention, my brother-in-law also bought a 626 for his daughter when she started college around the same time and he had the same issues with the transmission around the same mileage.

But, that was about 20 years ago now for both of us. But I still wouldn't buy one.

I have a 2015 Mazda 6 and it’s been a great car. My only complaint is it’s a little noisy inside, which they fixed in later years. Gas mileage and handling are terrific.

I had a cx-7 and loved it. Traded it in at 190k miles and she was still purring. I had a 6 for a long term rental and enjoyed it too. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another Mazda.

Would still have my 2010 if I hadn’t lost it in the flood

Currently have a 2016 6 sport

I love Mazda cars, no major issues

I love my Mazda. I had a Mazda3 that I bought used and drove for almost 10 years. In October of 2018, I upgraded to a CX5 and love that sucker.

I have a friend who only buys Mazdas. He's been driving them for 20+ years. He and his partner take great care of their vehicles and trade them in about every 4 or 5 years. He has a Miata and his partner a 3. His mom still drives his old 626 from about 15 years ago.

Mazda is the best Japanese make right now considering price

Honda and Toyota are still a little bit ahead, but you'll pay a premium for it and they aren't good enough to justify the price difference.

A loaded CX9 can be had for significantly cheaper than a barebones pilot.

Wife's 2014 cx5 with skyactice 2.5l has given us 66k trouble free miles. It's paid off so I'm not in a hurry to get her a new car. It is losing a little oil between oil changes. About 1/2 to 3/4 of a quart.

We had a Mazda Tribute. Had to replace the entire engine at 75k miles. Not a fan.

That's because it was a Ford Escape.

Yup. Live and learn. We were honestly wanting to buy a Rav4, but the dealership kept screwing around with us on the cost of the vehicle. The old, "What do you want your payments to me" crap. This was back in 2007 though.

I'd look elsewhere for a sedan.

You should totally disregard Toyota and Honda’s proven track record and take a chance on tens of thousands of dollars

Not everyone likes or wants a Honda/Toyota.

That's why there are other car companies in business.

Friend of mine had an old 626 back in the late 80s. The black, plastic moulding (to prevent door dings) that ran horizontally down the middle of the driver side door was broken off. When he picked girls up he would drive around the block and park in front of their house so that they only saw the passenger side of the car. He would also back into their driveway with the passenger side facing the front door.

Tha's all I have.

My sister had a GLC back in the 80’s. Straight shift and heck of a lot of fun for a teenager to drive!
