really?? scurries off to google

It turns out there's a provision in California regulations that give one six months to get license plates for a new car, and Jobs took advantage of it. Yes, he leased a silver Mercedes SL55 AMG, said Callas -- and every six months he traded it in for a new one.

sounds about right. the lambo was in the lafayette craigslist.

quote:

LAFAYETTE - A federal grand jury indicted a Lafayette man Wednesday for allegedly not listing more than $350,000 on an income tax return, U.S. Attorney Stephanie A. Finley announced.

Donald Domingues, 56, of Lafayette, was charged by a federal grand jury with one count of tax evasion and one count of making a false tax return. According to the indictment, when Domingues filed his U.S. Individual Income Tax Return, Form 1040 for calendar year 2007, he reported $259,725 as income and paid $64,909 in taxes. Domingues is accused of intentionally leaving out a $351,000 sales commission, which would have made his correct gross income $610,725 and his payment to the IRS 185,959. The indictment follows an Internal Revenue Service investigation.

If convicted, Domingues faces five years in prison and three years of supervised release for tax evasion, and he faces three years in prison and one year of supervised release for making a false statement in a tax return. He also faces up to a $100,000 fine and restitution.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Howard C. Parker is prosecuting the case.

probably fleeing the country, not moving.

To Belize? I'm pretty sure we could get him from there if he's committed a crime

Nope. Belize is a tax haven for sure. It doesn't have any income, capital gains or any kind of tax. Therefore tax evasion is not even a crime in Belize and they will not extradite or assist in tax issues. They have no deals with any country including the US.

I'm thinking he's a fricking idiot for saying out in the open he's a flight risk.

Point taken. But taking pics with underage girls, strippers etc is soooooo much different than announcing to the government that you are fleeing the country to a tax haven. If he's not already out of the country I would think his chances of getting out would be slim to none by now.

One could argue that case could be made even in the absence of that particular admission.

If he's skying out of the US and moving to Belize because of tax evasion, I'm guessing he sold everything. Someone else said his house was up for sale as well. I'm not sure how someone this stupid can make such a salary though.
