Been skydiving and hang-gliding but heights freak me out. These videos are dizzying.

Most climber trails down are sketchy AF. Hell, I’ve had to chimney up a 50’ gap, hop on top the spire, then jump that gap to get to the base of a climb. Placing gear after that is nothing. I’m fine when I have a rope.

Never been on a pole that tall?

I think I could get myself to climb one of those towers if I was tied off with 3 ropes and it was a ladder. frick them pegs at the top tho

Doesn't look so bad.

I see lots of ads for tower climbing jobs. I looked into it awhile back and they start off in the $25-30/hr range around here.

A girl I worked with used to date a guy who climbed towers. She said he was gone all the time. That was one of the main reasons I didn't pursue that line of work. I'm not really afraid of heights and it looks safer than oil field work.

Hmmm, gotta think about that question.

I went to a ropes course that got higher and higher, each level. I went in all confident, couldn't finish it. You clipped yourself in and out. 75+ feet was too much, even though I knew I was safe (if I clipped myself in). Wobbly beams bothered this former gymnast.

It’s ironic to be reading this at 8:45 PM and there is a cell tower behind the next door house and 2 guys are up there right now doing some work !

Also, wasn’t there a story a few years back about a tower climber who got to the top and found a nest of snakes ?

I’m in the industry, but I don’t climb. From everything I’ve seen after a couple years in here you would be doing extremely well to be making that kind of money being green. That being said, I don’t have kids, so the travel doesn’t bother me too much, but with kids being discussed for the near future, I’m starting to try and find my way out. I know plenty of people with full families who do it, and I can’t say that lifestyle looks appealing.

From my Uncles house you can see it really good. I watched some guys work on it a couple with my Uncle Binos. He said they used a helicopter to hang some sections of it. IDK how true that is.
