Why? Where am I wrong? Their map has a center 100-200 miles north of where NHC is focused, there is no real center. There's no storm to even track.

Oh, well since you went back and added another couple of paragraphs that help your point a little more - I will allow.

This is really all that matters.

Once Peej has declared a landfall, we just as well start preparing for that inevitable fact.

The TVCN is right up my arse, but in this storms case, we'll probably get significantly less rain than Baton Rouge and new Orleans. Whereas if it was projecting corpus, my area would be getting more rain.

For clarification purposes, that square in the path that is actually in the state is basically my house.

The thing with where you get your sources is they all behave differently. The govt. and broadcast won't commit to anything and will downplay a storm cause they don't want to cause panic/be wrong

Your comment about governmental sources is demonstrably false and speaks to you either being a dilletente re: what you're speaking about, or just ignorant about reality.

I was in a meeting two weeks ago in South Louisiana with meteorologists, first responders, aid groups and law enforcement in a Coastal Parish in South Louisiana. The meteorology angle was that governmental sources would begin tracking, forecasting and issuing warnings and advisories earlier than ever before in an effort to provide local government and law enforcement the best information possible earlier than ever before.

Look at the NHC-which is a part of the NOAA-which is-literally-the government trying to track the storm before it even achieves or qualified as a Depression or Storm, much less a named Hurricane-strength storm. You couldn't be more wrong if you tried.

It wasn't a knock on govt. It was a statement that while everyone is hyping up a storm, they are more calculated with their approach. Nothing more.

I notice I should have separated govt. from my statement about broadcast media and downplaying. That's more on the broadcast side.

I'd cause all the panic I could. Downplaying major rainfall events in South Louisiana only makes it worse. You literally have to scare people shitless and remind them of all the awful shite that has happened in the last 12+ years to get any kind of push toward preparedness.

I.e. It IS going to rain 15+ inches. There WILL be flooding. People WILL lose their homes.

It's insane to me that after everything this state has been through, you still have to treat the same people that have been through it all before like complete fricking idiots to get any kind of proactive behavior out of them. And if you get them to prepare and nothing happens, good. If their feathers are ruffled over it, fine. At least they were prepared and can't blame someone else for them not being prepared like they always do.

Not to overuse it here but again, in that meeting-on Hurricane Preparedness-in a Coastal Parish in La, government AND broadcasters were speaking to the group telling them the exact opposite.

I'm being polite by saying you didn't know what you were talking about. Your clarification doesn't impact that. You still don't.

This storm doesn't have a center of circulation and was being tracked and had warnings and forecasts from Governmental and Broadcast sources prior to both its arrival in GOM earlier than ever before. May just wanna move on here Chief.
