Just had a massive blowup south of Grand Isle. It looked like a nuke on the satellite. It's headed NNW.

I was planning on leaving aboit 8 Thursday morning but I'm going to play it by ear. Might wait until after lunch to head out. As long as there's no roads closed between here and there I'll feel pretty good

Thunderstorms that go up in plumes, I assume.

No, you can see the blow up and growing cloud tops in the last few frames.

Where I'm from it usually means a pop up shower or sudden thunderstorm. Not sure where he was going with that?

Serious question for the board.. Wife and I are supposed to be going to Galveston Friday morning. I know the storm will be in Arkansas by that time, but what do you think the flooding will be (if any) in Houston or down towards Galveston? She is worried and doesn't want to make the trip.

Our backup was originally going to be Louisiana had it gone much further west, but now we are looking at San Antonio as a backup.

Thanks.

That blowup is dumping on us right now in South Lafourche. About 2.5 inches of rainfall and rising quickly. Wind is pretty decent too. I'd say about 25-30 sustained gusting to 40+ at times.

Nah, they "blew up" over an hour span:

That's exactly what he meant. That deep ripply cloud top is deep convection. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some lightning in that area, and obviously some extremely heavy rain.
