Speaking of sealing off the cave, why can't they just block the entrance to the cave to divert the water during the rain or is the flooding due to the water table rising?

Im no expert, but im sure there are other ways water can enter the cave besides the main entrance.

So they are able to get to them to deleiver supplies, take videos, pictures, etc but they can’t just bring them a life jacket and carry them out one by one?

If they could just take them out, they would have taken them out already. I think that’s pretty simple to understand personally.

A life jacket doesn't do much good underwater. That's why they're cave diving and not cave swimming.

Gotcha. So there are parts of the path that are completely fill with water and the only way to get pass that spot is to swim underwater the entire way?

But some of the responders are able to get to them right?

I’m sure it is for someone that has been following this as closely as you have.

I just got home from a trip and trying to catch up on this story.

Has it been reported how deep the cave goes? I’m curious as to what’s behind the kids. I’m wondering if it could be easier for them to go that way rather than come out the way they went in.

Fair enough. Read up on this thread. It is informative and interesting.

The fact that a diver died is a big reason im sure that the parents would rather another option besides making the kids dive with a mask. The guy who died was a former marine. Not an 11 year old boy who probably cant swim too well.

It's not a tunnel through a mountain, my dude.

Good thinking. Will relay to proper authorities.

My dude, I realize it’s not a tunnel. Caves can have many different entry points. Hints why you see “main entrance” on all the maps the news stations show.

Correct, it's not a straight line back. The cave goes down and up and the water there rose due to the rain. They have to swim downward and then up again (several times maybe) to get out. Strong currents, no visability, and very tight passages make it even more difficult.

Seems like a lot people would benefit from reading the original post and some of the articles linked instead of having the same questions asked over and over again.

BCRC LINK from the British cave rescue group that has a real map. The kids are some distance south of the Pattaya Beach area

I don't know much about drilling but its probably pretty hard get all the equipment up to and set up on the side of a mountain. Also, they don't have an exact location from the surface on their position. Chile was flat and they knew exactly where the minors were.

Your entire post is inaccurate

If you drill ANYWHERE into one of those caverns that makes it where they only have to swim 100 yes instead of 1.5 miles....you significantly improve ALL operations (food, water medical, air, access etc.)

There is ZERO reasons not to have that underway, especially with the threat of more rain and flooding..

Again my prediction is more deaths to come...fricking thialand

It is estimated that the boys are around 2 km into the cave and somewhere between 800 m to 1km below the surface. They are also located in a relatively small space and this would make any potential drilling attempt as a means of rescue very difficult. Back here in the UK, there is an assessment of electronic equipment that may be suitable to pin-point the underground location of the boys and coach with a greater degree of accuracy than the published surveys. The necessary equipment will be sent to Thailand if electronic experts agree on the feasibility that it will operate over such depths.

This is from the link on the above post with the map.

They aren't ignoring the option of drilling them out, just don't have a clear shot at it right now. Looks like they are trying.

Drill into the biggest cavern along the route. Hole can also be used for MASSIVE VOLUME pumps to empty part of the flooded spots that is between the kids and the hole.
