people here in the US have no idea how good we have it as far as venomous reptiles/arachnids go.

although the bite of a brown recluse in rare instances can prove damaging to tissue, a fatality from a brown recluse bite has never been verified

Got bit by a brown recluse on the hand when I was about 4 years old. I remember I had a dead/rotting patch of skin about the size of a quarter on my hand even after visiting the doctor. Good thing I was 4 because it didn’t leave a scar at all. Very glad I don’t remember the pain of that bite.
I got bit about 6-8 weeks ago in the section of belly about halfway between the belly button and groin, right above the waistline of my pants and to the left above my inside edge (medial) femur. The spot is still purple like a bruise right now, still shedding some skin like a sunburn kinda thing.

That thing was obviously in some of the old cardboard boxes Mom and Dad had stored for decades. Was probably in the ones I carried 2 at a time judging by location of the bite (top of the bottom box or bottom of the top box).

Went to bed one night and as I slid my hand down smoothing the covers I ran over a bump that starting painfully itching, kinda like a redbug bump so I shrugged it off went to sleep. Middle of the night I turned over in my sleep and rolled over the now lump which the pain woke me up. Ran my hand over it and knew that was no redbug bite immediately. 1st thing when I got up at daybreak I checked in the bathroom mirror, yep, recluse bite. Just like the online photos, red, blue, purple, swelled up, already peeling skin and black center. Popped that sucker open, let it weep for about 3-4 days uncovered and that 1st day squeezed a bunch of gunk out of it (gunk as in bloody pus). I'll end up with a small depression type scar is all.

Gotta tell ya, this is no way to rid oneself of those stubborn love handles!
