The Brass were doing great. They forfeited their lease so the city could get the Hornets. I went from a season ticket holder for hockey to passing on tickets to NBA when offered. Sad.

That’s great. Your demographics are changing.
No one is going to want to go downtown to a hockey game.
Not in the northern suburbs. Which is where the arena will be. It won't be downtown. There are already plans for an arena either in Alpharetta or in the MacFarland Rd.corrider 15 minutes north just inside Forsyth County. Both along GA.400 north of Atlanta.

Same amount here in Atlanta.

it would flourish
It will here also as long as ownership is competent, which is what sunk it the other two times. NOT ATTENDANCE.

Already happening here.

Atlanta sithole isn't getting a hockey team.
Yeah, it is. Just a matter of when, not if. The next round of expansion it and Houston are both getting a team
And it's not a shithole, baw. Far from it.

It's because the other owners would rather take a flight to nola for an away game than anywhere in the Midwest
It's still a destination city. That attracts this sort of thing. Feel like an mlb team would have done best in south louisiana. Better than nba or nhl

Why didn't ATL keep the Thrashers?

Never got into hockey until I moved to Tampa and man I was hooked. My favorite sport to watch in person. In the early days opposing fans dominated the crowds, now it's almost all Lightning. 3 Stanley Cups helps too. I would love a team here but fear it wouldn't survive.

Hockey and the NHL are the best - but the fact this is even being mentioned is incredibly stupid for all the reasons already listed in this thread
Look, if NO ever got an NHL team I would buy season tickets, but it's not happening

Hockey is fun as hell to attend in person.

Seems like an odd choice there are a bunch of places I would think they’d consider over New Orleans
yeah, seems a little out there considering you have larger or more hockey friendly options like Houston, Phoenix, Kansas City, Milwaukee, Cleveland, Indy, etc...

I would love an NHL team in Houston. It would probably work financially with the size of the metro and all the northerners and Canadians that live here. Just can’t help but wonder how much of the attendance would be for the home team versus transplants cheering for the team from where they came from.
